Didn't see the game yesterday; didn't see MotD last night; not seen the goals either.

I'm on holiday with the littln.

However, I don't need to see it to know yesterday would have been a bonus points result and not a game I expected anything from, so we are no worse off this morning than we were at 3pm before kick off imo.

With Wigan and QPR self harming each other we remain outside the bottom 3 on goal difference, which is a massive 10 goals and may just be our saving grace come the big shake up.

We now have 5 games where points can be realistically gained starting with the derby next week. Fair play to the mags as they have done enough now to take themselves out of the dogfight imo but they are not worldbeaters by any stretch and I think they will field a full strength team on Thursday now which may or may not help us on Sunday.

Barring the spurs game, where we will lose, we have 15 remaining points to go for and we need a minimum of 7 points, preferably 8 to stay up. Nothing has changed from yesterdays result but from here on in the clock is ticking.

I reckon with another 6 days of the Di Canio regime, we will see some more fight and self belief but the longer we take to scrap these points the more difficult the task becomes for us and the more nervous and negative the players and fans will develop.

I want to see a Sunderland team giving their last breath from here on in and if we do go down, then let's do it screaming, fighting and kicking and not with a whimper.

I still think we can pull this off as it is in our hands to determine but **** me this will be close this time. I only hope PDC has the magic touch.

    The real battle starts now.

Well Cest if our first half performance is any indication of things to come , we have a good chance. We contained Chelsea very comfortably , our energy levels where good, chased and harassed , and as well as the goal created 2 excellent chances. Deserved to go in at least 1 up, their 2 goals ( so unlucky for both , but especially the first one) came too early in the half and our energy levels predictably dropped. However we played more football, and showed more fight in the first 45 mins than we have in the previous 10 games.

It was a decent game yesterday Cest although some would have you believe that it wasn't.
First half was a lot better than we have seen of late however the second half it was back to sitting back and trying to contain them, not sure why but PDC was going ballistic on the touchline. Gardner will be a miss against the barcodes and we have some of our lot (allegedly) saying he did it on purpose to miss that particular game, not sure where these people are coming from mind.
Like you I wasn't expecting anything yesterday and, will not read too much into it or the next game up the road as for me anyway they were always going to be a loss and an anything could happen no matter who was in charge.
Some good signs yesterday but, worryingly we faded about the 80 minute mark yet again anyway a better game from all involved and yet another OG did for us, an extra week for PDC to try and sort some fitness out and get the lads going.
Enjoy your break mate, the signs are good.

He doesn't have any magic touch Cest.

It was the same old.......we play one half very well and the other become devoid of ideas and do nothing. Nothing's changeD

Also bringing on the joke that is Colback when chasing a game is pointless. How many goals and assists has he got this season? oh......none you say? So let's throw him when we are trying to pull a goal back eh!??!!!

    Utter pointless substitute!

We need points this weekend like, I think defeat this weekend wouldnt necessarily see us down but it would be a MASSIVE blow.

I still think Chelsea was a lost chance to pick up some points with their congested fixture list but thats over.

I am honestly comparing this Sunday's game to 1945 D-day, its that important (ish lol)

I find it bizarre that you can hate a young footballer because he is not as good as you want him to be, I don't rate Colback but hate him , bizarre . You stated we played very well first half and did nothing second. Well don't know what you have watched over the last few weeks but we have not player "very well" in any of of recent games. PDC may not have an instant magic touch, but if you didn't think you saw an improvement you where watching a different game to me and through , bitter, twisted eyes.

PDC has a problem, we dont have any strength in depth so who do we have to give us something different ? No one, PDC will have to make the most of what he's got and 1 week is not a long time to make much of a difference. We surprised a few people with our first half anyway... we actually had some shots on target!!!
How is that so many of the goals against us are unlucky deflections... Odemwingie for west brom was the highlight !!!! then bramble agains man u and yesterday again. Its not rolling for us at the moment.

Lack of a goal scorer up front will be the death of us, Villa/Wigan have one (Benteke/Kone) however Stoke/Norwich dont hence I rekon its between us Stoke & Norwich to go down.

However win the next 3 games and we are safe, imagine that!

I got what I wanted from yesterday's game and that was a performance, higher energy levels for the first 45 more passes etc. Never expected any points but we were so unlucky with both of their goals ad Hanson said on MOTD2 last night both were bordering on flukes.

Mandron would have been worth bringing on. Raw but at least he has power and size and is a striker unlike Colcack

I think we can stay up.

PDC is pointing out to the players the fact that all our remaining games are cup finals.
Added to that the seige mentallity that could come from the Fascism furore.

At least if we go down , we'll go down fighting. KTF.

We will go down and it will be because we don't have anybody to score our goals. That really worries me.

Fair point, but look at Stoke, they're even worse imo. They'll go down I think.
