Ironically we will probably cure cancer then fall prey to all the insignificant things we never bothered about as our resistance to antibiotics rapidly runs out.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a cancer apologist. It's a terrible disease. But if we're going to get rid of cancer we need to redress the balance by introducing compulsory euthanasia at 80, or forced sterilisation for people in council houses.
Hope in reality is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man. Friedrich Nietzsche The man of knowledge must be able not only to love his enemies but also to hate his friends. Friedrich Nietzsche
Correct. The main cause of cancerous cells is abnormal p53 gene. When a cell reaches critical size it divides. If there is cell damage, the p53 halts the process of division in order to fix the cell. If it gets fixed, division continues. If it is damaged beyond repair, the p53 brings on apoptosis (cell death). Abnormal or no p53 allows damaged cells to separate and will cause a mass (tumour) of cells that continues to spread. Horrible disease that affects us all. Hopefully this new research can be tested and brought to patients as quickly as possible.
Fuck this! All this means is that ****s like politicians will live and work longer and expect everyone else to do the same. We've got a pension-related crisis already. Imagine what it will be like in 50 years if every ****'s getting cured from cancer? Mind you, obesity will probably replace cancer anyway. So, **** it.
We could introduce an age limit beyond which you can only get curative cancer treatment privately, not on the NHS.
