Hate to say it, but Santon gone off early, no silly goal conceded. And Cissé may be kack all game long, but at the end, he always tucks one away. Need another striker though.

 

Don't know how much more of this my nerves can stand. Just following this match on the BBC has given me a headache lol
Need to be ruthless next weekend and put some proper distance between us and the drop once and for all.

Talk about broon pants time. Those last 20 mins seemed like a season rolled into it. Great result but made even sweeter with the Mackems losing.
With a little bit more luck we could have had another 2 but I'll take 1-0 every game from here on in.

 

Massive win, sublime goal from Cisse. We need more strike options. Shola is just not a game changer putting it gently. We also need more creative options. Pardew made good subs today but he must turn round, look at his bench and wonder. The squad is shaping up nicely but still lacks balance/depth in certain areas. Pardew and the players did well to get through that today. We looked a little tired in body and more importantly mind. It would be lovely to think we can get through on Thursday but we took a massive step towards safety today.

The mackems is still a game we want to win. They have a tricky situation now.

I know he's like Marmite for most but I like Pardew, at least he shows that he cares and isn't just picking up a paycheck.

You get damned for being a mercenary and damned for showing passion... can't win these days.

However, if he hadn't done SO well last season combined with the owner's desire for long-term consistency he'd have been fired this season.
It has been a shocking campaign and we shouldn't try and paper over that.

But good on all of them for today!

I like Pardew. I don't think we should paper over the cracks, we should learn from it and take it forward. That's what the best clubs do and why they get consistency in the end. Instead of knee jerking and sacking they give people time and don't buy into the modern day merry go round with managers. Pardew is a good manager. Like the players, board, fans, he should look to analyse where we've gone wrong. The biggest mistake he can make is pretend he hasn't played a part in us underperforming.

I'd much rather we give him a chance to learn from it rather than looking for the usual quick fix by swapping him. At some point this club has to learn there is no short cut.

 

Yeah I agree – I don't want him sacked, I think Ashley's right to keep him long-term and maintain stability. Changing managers all the time is just stupid.

What I meant was, if our policy wasn't like that I believe given this season's poor show he'd have gotten the boot...
