To me Cardiff looked really average, aside from that little asian guy in the middle they didn't really bring much attacking wise...
I think Cardiff went with the plan of keeping a clean sheet - so a draw was enough in Malky's eyes. They have looked average for most of the season, but still picked up points. It's what good sides do. We've done it a few times - Burnley away was a good example. Watford didnt look that special either though.
This is probably bollocks though. I know I'm becoming obsessed with stats but Cardiff had the same shots at Watford (10 each) and had more on target. Watford and Palace for some reason have managed to get this reputation of being great footballing sides while us and Cardiff are seen as 'ugly winners' by many yet the facts just don't back it up.
If I was Brucey, after this result I would be saying to the team we can catch Cardiff go for it. Better to focus looking up than looking down and protecting our 2nd position.
Watford do play good football at times but so do we, not recently, but earlier on in the season we played some great football. Cardiff are more physical, but still have the likes of Whittingham, Kim, Bellamy, Cowie, etc who are all decent footballers. Palace just play a lot through the wings and try to get as many crosses into Murray as possible. That's how I see it anyway. I suspect the reason we have that reputation is because of the televised games. Wednesday, Burnley, Huddersfield, there may be more, we've played poorly in. There's only been Bristol City away where we showed a glimpse of what we're capable of. And given the incredibly brief coverage on the FLS, televised games & the games against their team are the only factors people judge us on.
Palace don't play good footie. They just try to get it on Murray's head - if it fails, they dive all over the place. The media just jumped on the Zaha bandwagon and assumed they must be a good footballing side.
Media manipulation lads. We both win ugly because we are a long way from London. Let the table speak for itself.
BORING BORING BORING GAME TO WATCH. On that performance you wonder how on earth both of them are 1st and 3rd ffs ? In saying thats most teams are now running on empty and massive amounts of will power and who wants it most will be needed. Cardiff should have promotion sorted by next saturday and the title prior to the final game. Watford will do well to get 2 draws from the Peterboro and Millwall games, imo.
we CAN get first place............. beating Cardiff on the very last day of the season will seal it! the problem with you lot is that you think like little brits. thinking like sheep! OK maybe I do think like an american through spending a lot of time over there, but I love there "can do" thinking compared to our "play it safe" attitude. Dare To Dream! now, we WILL get 1st! I hope Watford get second, and forest come up via the playoffs.
You cannot take one game in isolation and make a judgement call as to how good or **** that team is, that is ****ing ludicrous. Cardiff are top by a mile and are therefore the best team in the league.
Yep, I've watched most of our away telly games with the same people and none of them can believe we are where we are. When we've been on telly we've had to grind out the results. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just that's what people see and so they think its what we do all the time rather than play some decent football.
wow! little britain at it's best.... no wonder Hull is oppressive, no one dare believe that we can do anything! whats wrong with dreaming? a CAN DO ATTITUDE is better than a CANT DO ATTITUDE! but what would I know? christ! surely everyone in this ****ty little town can't think the same way, can they?
On paper Cardiff don't really have many players that you'd pay to watch, but they're solid and have a great work rate.
On grass they don't really have many players that you'd pay to watch. Well organised team that against all expectations has held on, grudging credit to MM for that. But lookers they ain't.
