I voted Jones as Mambo wasn't on the list! I know a hatrick is often auto mom but Mambo did a sterling job at the back too.
Oops! Can't edit that, just done out of habit! Pretty sure it's the first game he's not played in all season.
This one is a no-brainer but I agree Mambo deserves honourable mention as does Mcginn for some classy passing. We should be looking to sign both these permanently if possible. I dont think Mcginn has much of a future at Watford (for one thing he is not Italian!) and the sight of Mambo playing alongside Grandison at the centre of our defence next year would be a wonder to behold.
Heartily endorse all of that. Eaves has to take it for as good a hat trick as I can remember seeing. The 2nd isn't quite so good on replay as it was live because you can see the heavy touch and bobbling ball but still a lovely finish. Quite a contrast to the other 2 ferocious strikes, which look every bit as good as I thought at the time, however many times you watch them. But I thought Mambo was excellent, especially in the 2nd half when, it's easy to overlook, Crawley were opening us up all too easily. Let's all say a prayer for a Mambo-Grandison partnership next season (not forgetting Jones, who's had a good season, and Goldson, who was also very good on Monday).
Mambo Grandison would be a fantastic central defense. Nice to see you back on here Shrewd. If I remember rightly are you Venceremos on B&A??
Cheers Matster, not sure why I've been away really. Your memory serves you well. Been less active on B&A until recently too. Thought it was getting a bit hostile, rather than just passionate. I guess the mood follows the team's fortunes to a great extent.
Welcome back.....perhaps you could act as intermediary in the fan-owned versus tight-wad owners debate!!
Unless you sit on the fence the are certain members of B&A that will jump down your throat at any opportunity and seem sad enough to remember comments from a long time ago.
Hmmm, I wonder who you could possibly be thinking of .....? I've had a few run-ins. I don't mind so much being caught up in those actually, although it probably gets boring for others and can descend into tit-for-tat if you're not careful. But I think some are more robust than others and it probably puts a lot of people off or they think they'll get shouted down or ridiculed for speaking out, which is a real shame. My real objection is when the atmosphere becomes hostile and it's impossible for some people to disagree without resorting to condescension or, at worst, outright abuse. The furore over the safe standing exhibition resulted in Martin James, who I don't know but seems to be a thoroughly decent fella, closing his B&A account. The fact that someone like him felt driven to do that made me think seriously about doing the same. I just stayed away and kept quiet for a bit instead.
B and A is far less affable than on here. Everyone on here is reasonable and can hold a good debate without resorting to sarcasm or abuse. On B and A, some of the counter-arguments to my points on the Turner and Richards threads made me beat my head against a wall! Everyone's a lot more reactionary on there too - I often feel like one of the most patient on there, despite being one of the youngest! I did play football with a few off there - Ant and TBH are the only ones whose faces and monikers I would be able to link though - and that was really good. I don't know if there would be any appetite for something similar with any off here? I appreciate not everyone lives locally/would be up for extreme physical exertion and the alternative of a pint isn't quite legal for, ahem, some of us yet.. Just a thought.
Lenny - As I recall, your posts were far more reasoned and mature than some of the B&A members who were no doubt older and should have known better! I don't beat my head against a wall on there but I do poke back if I get provoked - life's too short for that nonsense. My competitive footballing days are behind me - unless it was a veterans' game! But it's been too many years since I was asked my age at the bar and I did meet with matster & aj a while back. I'd try to make a not606 shrews gathering if it happened.
