thebronze - are you surprised? A massive club like Arsenal who claim to be a breeding ground of top young players losing to a litlle old club out in the sticks... not good news so have to try and cover over the result
Exactly Fran, if we had lost we would have said something like only Gazzanigga has started a 1st team game from our line up. Think Moore, Isgrove & Chambers have come off the bench. Arsenal fans not happy with how many players get from youth to 1st team.
We are now in third place in U21 league, but all very close. Hopefully, we have hit form at the right time.
Considering our academy is one of the best in the Britain, when will we get invited to the nexgen series. Even Aston villa have been invited!
Considering only Chelsea got Into the elite group out of the prem teams playing in the next gen guess it's buy name not ability
Highlights up on Player. Harrison Read (our own little Wotsit) scored a lovely goal from 25 yards and also set up the first goal with a long ball that caused the Arsenal keeper to fumble it. Read seems to have a kick on him. We were playing a bit more long ball than usual but that was probably down to the pitch. Amusing that the commentators kept having their view blocked...once by JWP who we were reliably informed had a nice scarf on and by Mauricio who was apparently wearing a nice warm coat.
Did he really? Yes it's not a UEFA competition so it has nothing to do with the league places or anything, it's done by invitation. UEFA youth competitions coming soon I believe.
Had to hunt a bit because things get exagerated when repeated (as I did). He praised our academy for scouting, training and education before our game. He said our production of players was exceptional and then added, Arsenal also produce some, but not as many as Southampton.
I've been wondering about the NextGen series as well, from looking at their website it seems the whole thing is done on a discretionary invite basis with no formal entry requirements. Cortese will have to slip a brown envelope to someone to get in by the looks of things.
