Thank you so very much Warnock you plank!! Brown is activating a contract extension clause based on appearances, and will now stay at Leeds for next season. What a total waste of money!!!

Brown was on around £10k per week plus add ons, but he signed a "reduced" one season deal last July thought to be £7k per week, so there's another chunk of money gone that could have been used elsewhere. No wonder Colin was selecting him ahead of others, he was getting his lad a nice little contract extension which means Brown finishes his career at Leeds.

This once again proves Harvey's inability to negotiate contracts properly. How on earth do you put in an extension clause for a player on his last legs who is signing a one seasondeal, which means you keep him when he's 37 if the clause is activated, and the clause is in HIS favour. Brown doesn't have to kick a ball in a Leeds shirt again, yet he will still be raking in the cash!! If Brown was signed as a squad player, only being a backup which would have meant the clause not seeing the light of day, how the hell did he manage to make 30 appearances this season, 21 being starts? You can't make it up, and it does start making you wonder if Warnock was really working in the interests of Leeds. Was his heart really in it? Was it a "give it a last hurrah and see what happens" job for him? Let's face it, the club has definitely gone backwards under Colin.

    Only Leeds United!!

You really couldn't make it up. Harvey is an absolute clown. We'll now have to pay that fat lump Brown to sit on his arse for a year or pay him to **** off.

That's a few more reds/yellows going down to Leeds United's name next Season then.

I'm sure that Brown can't actually play football, he just slides around aimlessly attempting to clatter as many people as possible.

Rather you lot than us! ;)

Hes probably activated a clause in his contract by playing a certain number of games. Warnocks fault, club suffers, brown is laughing.

Hope Dawson keeps him out of the team and we loan him to someone ****. I used to think Brown offers something and on his day he can, I just think he's hating his time here & would quite happlily stick his fingers up at the kop if he could!

Far to many CM's at the club already this deal must have been triggered due to games played.

Guys, I have to disagree here. Brown does slide in too often & gets more than his fair share of bookings. But someone's got to add some steal to our midfield. Look what happened when we let that chap from Coventry go back, teams were lining up to play against us. Brown may not be perfect, but he's solid enough and will be a good cover player if we can get someone else in.

I like Brown, I wouldn't want him as a regular starter next season but I think a lot of people have unfairly made him the scapegoat for Warnock's style of play (forgetting that it was Grayson who signed him). He's a solid, experienced player to have in midfield when needed.

Agree completely. Think Brown's been fairly decent this year, definitely better than Austin (who since his injury has been terribly disappointing) and Norris. Not sure about giving him another year, that's a bad mistake in the contract, but he gets a hell of a lot more abuse than he deserves. If you want to abuse someone, abuse Varney <doh>

I think Browns a liability in games(meaning that I'm always waiting to see him get a yellow or red). Get rid of Warnocks mates and lets start getting a few more young kids in.

I actually like Brown, definitely has another season left in him, although as Shaks said I'm always waiting for him to get a red for a stupid ill timed tackle. All in all it's not a disaster having him in the squad for another season.

Out of interest, has Brown ever actually been sent off for us? I can't recall...

When Norris was with us he'd collect his 5 yellow cards and suspension on average every 6 or 7 matches. Has a great engine but 'headless' and 'chicken' spring to mind. If Brown is getting booked more than Norris then you guys really are in need of all the midfielders you have to cover all those suspensions...

He's only got one red playing for you, against Derby last season.

Kiwi, as I've said efore, let's judge Austin after he's had a proper break. Remember he'd played a full season elsewhere before coming to us. He hasn't had an off season break for over a year.

We tend to play worse and invite more pressure when he's on the pitch. The only time I've genuinely thought we could use him on the pitch is against Derby away when we could have done with someone on the pitch to intimidate Hughes.

Not his biggest fan but while he remains a Leeds player it's best to get behind the lads and support 'em as that is the only way forward to move the club in the right direction. When the player's know they're fans have their back it can produce another 10-20% in performance levels and that will mean better results.
