I can see Haidara being a starting LB next season. I personally think Santon will end up playing the Jonas position

 

Typical newcastle, just played a top top team and stupid stupid mistakes cost us.
Santon is a liability and has cost us to many times this season

In general a superb performance and if we play like that tonight we will move up the table comfortably.

What do we do if we lose an early goal
Next week in the return leg ???

Part of me hopes the big guns come of

Santon as a right midfielder would be great imo, I just don't rate him as a defender.

 

Not so much up the field but more to the left like sitting in the bloody stand

After his performance tonight I feel like I was

 

Feel sorry for Santon, never nice when you make a big clanger of a mistake and don't like singling one player out.

But my patience has run out with him this season, it's happened too much and cost us too many points.

Get him back to Italy in summer, perhaps to Milan, while he still has a resale value and we can get some cover for Haidara.

He's not a defender and in the position he plays we NEED one because he doesn't do enough offensively to carry him...

I wish Saylor would stop it with holding his arm down by his side but then leaning into the ball, he isn't going to get away with it so the big boot would be far more effective.

 

Why try and decieve the referee, he can't even do it properly and ends up looking like a tit.

 

How many times have we seen him do it? Will he never learn?

Cant blame Tayls fully on that one. He accidently stood on Moussa's foot, stopping him from getting the ball which he would have expected to. Subsequently the ball hit his arm. Not intentional, but was a penalty unfortunately.

 

If only I had £1 for every time I've heard that this season....

 

Great performance by players, coaches and manager, ruined by two individual errors. I actually think the first was avoidable too but Santon and Saylor killed us with their moments of stupidity. Its not over and 2-0 is a possible result. I saw nothing from them that made me think they are out of this world. They are a good side but we were dealing with their threat relatively comfortably for an away European tie. Its the kind of result we didn't want in a way. You probably want to be completely out of it, or a bit tighter than it is. That way we could have said lets forget the 2nd leg or lets go for it.
