This is also my opinion, I know its all connected - but what happens on the pitch isn't his direct responsibility. All the infrastructure is. I'm sure Hughes was also involved in bringing other aspects of the club to a premiership standard (which may in time be recognised or not), but it was Hughesdirect responsibility what happened on the pitch - and it was him that paid for it.
The guy is the CEO of the business and is responsible for the day to day running of the business, the fact that one aspect of the business has failed so spectacually is not directly down to him, that is what delegation is all about. I'm sure that TF & co have a long term plan in place with contingencies for a relegation, in the long term this may actually do us some good and if it takes one or even two seasons in the championship to build a strong side that is ready for the premiership demands then so be it. Those of us with long enough memories will remember that our greatest ever side formulated over the previous 3 or so years. So imo no change required.
Well, a landslide in favour of beard. I must say i did think there would be others agreeing with what i originally said, but i am coming round to the idea that its best to keep stability and stick with what we have got. I just hope beard will actually listen to the fans and take on board suggestions. Such as the family stand.
It was a fair question to ask Judo.....but we have had far too many changes over the years and look where that has got us...
Sounds like I'm coming late to this but for the life of me I can't see what Beard has done to merit this level of respect. Despite the various 'watch this space' remarks about a new ground over the last 18 months there appears to have been zero progress with this most vital of projects.
I really don't know if he's doing a good job or not, but it isn't his fault we are bottom of the league. So let him be for me.
He will be the one to get the new stadium done. Personally I think we need to appoint a Director of Football as advisor to the board.
i think it depends on how the stadium is going, I would hope hed think about going if we havent got definite plans by the end of the year.
I understand what you're getting at, but where in England has this model actually worked? The Director of Football can't resist getting their hands dirty, managers get pissed off and it all ends in tears - especially with 'experienced' (make that aged) managers like Harold. And for those asking for 'experienced football' Chairman and CEOs, can we have some examples please. And then reflect that whoever you nominate had to start somewhere and we have a couple of blokes who are already proven business successes. Though Bates and Risdale are free.......thats experience for you.
