The local TV/media failed to even condemn them one bit, but instead praised the football club for paying for the damage their disgraceful fans caused. Durham Miners' Association say any issue over Paolo Di Canio's appointment at Sunderland AFC has now been resolved and that their banner could now stay at the ground. They held a meeting on Thursday April 4 with a representative from the club. The meeting was scheduled prior to Di Canio's statement released on Wednesday Macrh 3, in which he says he does not support the ideology of fascism. The Miners' Association had previously said that they wanted the Wearmouth Miners’ Banner removed from the Stadium of Light in protest at Di Canio's political beliefs.
