All similar in the sense that like any political agenda or religion they are a way of controlling people. Its just another word the media love to stir up because people associate it with something bad, most don't have a clue what it really means.

As for the miners, my Grandad fought the Germans in the war, most of his mates were killed doing it, does that mean I hate German??

Everyone needs to get a grip, DiCanio is a footballer, he is not a politician, he is not trying to put his views over he just wants to get on with football.

They are political views that at one time you could hold in this country without persecution. Apparently these are all now outlawed according to ****wits like Kevin look at me everyone McGuire (who the **** voted him as the voice piece of the club all of a sudden) and DAvie spaced out Hopper.

I love the self righteous ****s who have emerged in the last 24 hours to talk about their fathers and brothers dying in the last war to stop PDC becoming Sunderland manager. If it wasn't so ****ing tragic it would be funny.

I must have missed the history lesson where brave men and women all over this planet died for the very freedoms that these communist lefty ****ers would now deny Di Canio. Talk about double standards? The hypocrisy is stinking the house down from where I sit.

Oh and as well as one of my grandads dying after 40 years down the pit, my other grandad was shot twice in Italy in 1944 fighting for my freedom to support and express opinions on any political party, religion and lifestyle I choose to have. Neither of them believed in state sanctioned public outings of a mans own political, religious or moral inclinations. So long as they abide by the laws of the land and the fabric of society, they both would have hated this stance by some people and the ****e press.

So have I Reg & left that twat Hopper in no doubt as to how I feel about him.
His words today make him a fascist himself by deciding for everybody in the NUM what is gonna happen.

That's what gets me about the far left. They want democracy but only their version of it.

Fascists have historically been given a bad press because they wanted to challenge the status of the ruling classes. Leaving the two obvious dictators out I notice that General Franco has not been given a mention. Maybe because he stuck within his own borders.

No you can't. That would be democratic and they won't stand for that.

What I find repulsive about this whole thing is that the NUM should be looking after the interests of the working man. If they are trying to stop a man from going about his legitimate business just because of his political views then, in my book, they are utter and total hypocrites.

My uncle, an ex-shop steward, Morning Star reader and ex-phone tapped courtesy of MI5 has the same views as the NUM which equally disgusts me. Freedom for the common man as long as he's kept in his place by his rules. I used to be a union man in the early 80s and, like others here, supported the miners. But this action is beyond the Pale.

Far from Sunderland being the parahias of the football world I think that your club will be making a lot of friends. I really hope that he does well for your club and you benefit from his tenure. We just can't let the bullies prevail.

    Well said.
I was indentured as an apprentice in 70, not long after that the Building Workers strike happened and quite often we the apprentices were left unsupervised on site as we weren't allowed to strike.
There were hundreds of building workers ignored the strike and officials of unions supposed to be representing us.
The strike was more about job security and safety and crap workmanship than actual money.
This was the strike where Ricky Tomlinson was arrested and imprisoned and abandoned by the TUC.
I had the pleasure of meeting Ricky at a wedding when he was still doing Brookside.
I mentioned I was just starting out when the strike happened.
What an intelligent man he is, he pointed out about the higher people got in unions the more conflicted they became and started to ignore the actual members they were supposed to represent.
I will always remember this name from that conversation George Smith, who was General Secretary at the time actually helped employers blacklist Shop Stewards.
When officials ignore their members or worse still make arbitrary decisions for them unions become null and void.

How is it a media vendetta you morons? If its football then it's ok for the men in charge to be and do as they wish. Fine role models and can't believe people are trying to deflect from the real moral dilemma by blaming the press and this supposed vendetta. Think properly about this and there is no defence. If he apologised then that's fine but to say these aren't his views is a total lie and he is trying to kid not only himself but the supporters as well.
All disappointing cos its detracting from what should be a chance for Sunderland to try and save their season, instead they are having to fend off public annoyance. Honestly think he could be a good man for the job. However, sunlun knew he was part of a media circus on appointing him and so cannot now gripe because the media has taken the issue on a direction they didn't want. In the future the will also be times when he causes outrage at some point and I don't think Sunderland need dragging through the muck like this. ,not fair on the decent fair minded majority of supporters.

Nice one Billy. As long as we know where you stand intellectually and morally now. If you want to defend this then I suppose you would also advocate the issuing of EDL and BNP membership forms with your season ticket renewal packages. No swearing please brains in your deeply considered, yet ill informed reply....
I support my club to the n'th degree as well but surely you lot were expecting some stick over this? And deflecting the real issue by claiming vendettas etc. is nonsense I am afraid

Cheers chestermackem. Just what I thought--no defence=no response .... Keep blaming others and pretend its ok. If it was ok why such a fuss?? Never knew that southern press gave a naff about north east clubs but apparently they do. Or maybe it's a reflection of an outrage felt by the majority. This is not to do with who I support. I hate any form of racism, fascism, discrimination etc. that's all and would find it difficult to go along with no matter how fanatical I am to my club. I am pretty sure most level headed football supporters nationwide would agree.
It will die down in time but won't make it right
Anyway, you n mrs Bruce never did get to sing that song he'd dreamt up. Maybe this month. If you have no hope u have nothing my friend

Getting beaten off the leagues also rans 4-0 probably still hurts.
Has to hurt more than our close 1-0 loss to the Champions elect!
