Also he was being forced into playing link up as all we did was play down the flanks. Even if a chance was presented he couldn't be there to get on the end of it as he was too busy creating it. Huge failure by Steve Bruce again, well and truly out foxed by Zola.
He's our 4th highest assister too (last time I checked). Koren, along with Chester, was our best player last season, to call him a "diabolical excuse of a footballer" is embarrassing.
Howcan you say that he looked good in the first half, but not in the second? We couldn't touch the ball in the first half, yet dominated the second?
Brady Faye Chester Our midfield let us down badly last night, Boyd looked knackered, Koren stepped out of everything(as did Elmo) and Bruce shouldn't have been there in the first place.
Brady - Tried all night but badly missed Quinn, his link up partner, until Bruce eventually brought him on, after which point we pinned Watford back. Why wasn't Quinn introduced after the first ineffective 45?! Simpson - Like Brady he worked hard all night, on the few occasions that the misfiring central midfield got the ball to him he held it up, flicked it on or turned his opposition player, if someone (Oh for a younger Chris Chilton!!!) could teach this lad how to score, and someone eventually will, he would be a world beater!!! Faye - I'm a big fan of the big man and he was generally there when it mattered last night, the only blot on his copybook for me was the fact that he didn't move to close Deeney down for his goal, however he wasn't the only player guilty of that, and, while we're on subject, if Evans had been on the pitch at that point I feel that he probably WOULD have been the player to close Deeney down!
Only my second game of the season, so no prejudices from me. Thought boyd, koren and one or two others looked tired after their international games and saturday. Mom for me was 1 faye 2 brady 3 simpson. (Frustrating as he is, going from dire to brilliant to dire in an instant. The stuff he did well, he did really well)
Brady.....He looked like he was up for it, and worked hard all night. Faye......Solid workmanlike performance. Quinn.....not sure why he didnt start. but we looked more like scoring when he came on.
Steve Bruce said that he did not want to risk Quinn breaking down. Expect him back on saturday though,.
Neither of those 3 are centre-mids that suit this formation, Quinn and Evans were needed as the press the opposition early. When Watford were on top they were just cutting straight through the middle every time. We missed Meyler a lot last night but think Brucey got it wrong not playing Quinn especially and then Evans should have been in place of Alex as he actually has the ability to play a simple pass instead of hoofing it in the air every time.
