During every press conference from today until they answer the question, every manager of every football club in Britain should be made to declare their political views and religious persuasion, so we can all make judgements on them based on that not the football. Surely if its such a massive importance to the press, do gooders and fringe group, then every manager should be subjected to the same intensive scrutiny from here on in. If they are not, then this is all nothing more than a disgusting witch hunt and a national disgrace. All we are asking is for a level playing field. By the way, isnt it actually illegal to appoint or not in work based on a persons political or religious beliefs? Over to you press barons, union leader hypocrites and do gooders.
What a good idea. I would be most interested to hear SAF`s views on benefit cuts, what Moyes thinks of austerity and particularly what Sam Allerdyce thinks of immigration. Fascinating.
It is the self righteousness of the press that is getting me. They have worked themselves up as almost being wronged because SAFC will not give them an exclusive on PDC's political beliefs. I heard a reporter yesterday who was absolutely incredulous that a football manager only wants to talk about football. The real problem is that in this 24 hour news society it is difficult to find enough to talk about to fill the time so non- stories tend to run and run as reporters desparately. try to justify their existence. I expect the less able journos will keep this story running for a bit yet.
We all know that PDC is not a racist and is for immigration. He is quoted as saying his 2 best mates at WHU were Powell and Sinclair so I would have thought they would have spoken up for him. This morning, bbc radio had Powell on and what was said was that we are making a "bold" decision in hiring PDC and nothing much else, nothing defending our Paulo. I think there was much more said but the bbc has edited it to make PDC appear in a bad light. I think all this ganging up on us (the supporters) is bringing us more together. Nobody likes us, not the media anyway. If they think we are such a big club why do we only get 30 seconds on the last slot on MOTD?
How long do you reckon a journalist would last in a press conference with SAF if they asked "Hi Sir Alex, What are your political and religious views, I only ask because I need to make a story out of this"? And then when SAF says "Can we keep the discussion about Football please" and the Journo again says "Are you a catholic?" or "Do you support the Tory's or are you a Labour man?" How long do you think they'd last - and the rest of the press would lambast the member of the press who continually harrassed SAF over his beliefs rather than lambasting SAF for refusing to answer the question!
A very interesting concept cest and yes it is against employment law, to discriminate againt sex, race, religion, sexuality or disability. Marcus, they wouldnt dare, i'd love to see one try Charley, typical hypocritical bbc Riv, i think we've already threatened to ban the press
Bloody great point Cest..... It is turning into a bit of a witch hunt and I'm starting to feel sorry for the bloke. Its a shame really because it looks like the press won't stop until he makes comment. One thing for sure, If any of the media asked SAF his view they would be banded from the pressers. Maybe we should take this stance. It's really starting to piss me off now.
Watford fan in peace. In the Telegraph this morning Chris powell said the decision was bold but he and Di Canio were good mates and they never spoke about political beliefs and he didnlt think it should be an issue. What beggars belief is the fact that nothing was said when he took over at Swindon yet now it's a crisis point for football. I'm pretty sure there will be fans sad enough out there who will now be trawling the internet to find dubious commenst amde by other football managers - actually if this was happening at my club I'd be the first to do just that! Always had a soft spot for you boys so good luck for the rest of the season
From the sun today apparently, shocking really although quite amusing please log in to view this image
The Sun journo's really are the biggest bunch of sanctimonious bastards ever. Remember the Hillsborough lies & the forced apologies you ****s? Looks like they've learned from that eh? The club should sue the bastards.
they should, thats calling him a nazi if ever i have seen it and after everything thats been said aswel
Why should they though? PDC in the past has called himself a fascist as well as many 'salutes' etc. He has brought it on himself, no other manager has.
Maybe they should be asking Pardew some other questions regarding any skeletons he may or may not have locked away? Like has he ever applied for high court injunctions or not to stop the press printing a story? I don't know the answer of course but I'd love to hear his? You see once you start, where do you stop? As for that sun cartoon, I hope Ellis Short hands it straight to his high powered legal team as they have just intimated we are a Nazi organisation and our club name, colours and traditions have been libelled here imo.Maybe they should be asking Pardew some other questions regarding any skeletons he may or may not have locked away? He's explained it several times as have others. The media only listen to what they want to hear & sensationalise everything to sell their snot sheets.
