He'll work again, but it won't be at the level at which his last 2 or 3 opportunities have come.

He's a manager with talent but the way he left Hull won't count for him in terms of loyalty, and the current failure at leicester will be significant when it comes to him looking for new work.

He obviously has an issue with the bigger personalities in the squads he has managed (Olly, Macca, Ash at Hull - St Ledger, Danns etc... at Leicester), and in higher management structures (A.P. and his former Chief exec @ Leicester) . He blatantly struggles with the media and has been shown by his own admission today that he finds fan pressure and high expectation " a hindrance". How many competent managers in the league structure would give their bollocks for a chance at a club with that level of backing and "expectation"?

On the plus side he can turn clubs around when expectations are low and can identify and develop decent young talent, which will see him working in the lower leagues or at a struggling championship side before too long, though even this success has come latterly with a decent level of financial backing. There is always a job for a man who can arrest a slide and rebuild with the future in mind - I'm just not sure he's someone capable of capitalising on such foundations.

Big setback for his career though, and I would say he has a long way to go before he gets a chance at a club with top flight ambition again.

In essence his interview today made him look small-time. Let's face it, from a promising position he's failed/failing quite spectacularly in one of the few "plum" appointments outside the Premiership.

Summed up very well Septum, tomorrow will be interesting, but I feel NP will be here until the end of the season now. In one respect it is nice to see our owners trying to show faith with him, but at what cost!

He made exactly the same mistake Peter Taylor did with us, leaving thinking he was getting a better offer or going to a bigger club. His problem is handling the media and the fans specifically, as you can tell from his lack of popularity on here. I don't share the dislike myself as he is a sound, if too defensively minded coach when all is said and done. He is better than a lot of managers but if they make the wrong career choices then this is what happens. He might get another chance at a decent club given his history with Wednesday and Middlesborough though he will regret leaving us more than anything else that has happened to him.

I still would not back against him getting Leicester in the play offs, he did a great job at City but in hindsight we have played some of the best football I have ever seen City play under Bruce can not wait for tonight fingers crossed, up the Tigers.

i still say that City's performance at Brighton, just before Nigel Pearson left and with half the team available to him that Steve Bruce has ever had, was one of the best performances by a City team for sometime

I remember listening to that game on the wireless and some of the comments from the Brighton fans saying" they are the best team we have played" but I still think we have played our most attractive football win or lose under Bruce, also his after match interviews are described how I have just watched the game and you can not say that about many managers.

NP did a good job for us, but he has his limitations. He certainly has difficulty communicating with people, and I think if he does lose the dressing room, as appears to be the case at Lesta, he does not have the ability to get it back. As has been said before what sticks in peoples throats here, is the manner in which he left, as well as it was reported he didn't even talk to the players before he left, which highlights his underling problem with his personality. What a difference Steve Bruce is, he can communicate with all aspect of the job, owners, media, players and the fans.

He's disliked but Bruce doing so well hasn't helped his reputation much either!

    I agree.

Teams tend to have good/winning runs of 5/6 games then return to the mean (which explains the curse of the Manager of the Month award)

And it can be the smallest of things that starts the run - a deflected goal, an opponent missing a sitter, etc.

Still a lot to happen at the top and bottom come the final whistle on May 4th.

When you are summoned by the board / owners its fair to think that it wont be good news. But i dont think that MON will want anything to do with football for a while so Lesta may as well keep Pearson until the seasons end. HaHa Nigel, but enjoy the pay-off when it comes. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

they have Brighton next match which will be interesting, 2 teams fighting for 6th place at the moment. And if they lose I can see Pearson leaving the ground in a taxi as although it may be too early to be sacking a manager with then 4 games to go - considering the run they would be on, any sensible board of directors would be admitting it is impossible to gain promotion with the current management and if they change it now then the new man/woman has games to get to know the strengths and weaknesses of the players before the end of the season so they know where the squad needs improving and pruning in the summer. (yes I know a comma in that sentence would be a benefit)

Lesta with Brighton away onm saturday and with there Final 2 games against Watford home and @ Nottingham Forest away on the final day that looks like another 3 defeats at least. imo.

I would suggest that NP may as well keep his job until the end and that then makes sacking him a much simple task after failure. Unless of course,, IF NP has lost the entire dressing room totally. ? Twitter yesterday after there game suggested that he had. TWT as always.
