Michael Howard was trying to nail his colours to the Swansea mast before the LC Final.

The other was a zombie political thread, totally different.

Kind of a derail attempt too, if you wanna talk about the undead go back to the getting paid to thread

I often get confused between my left and right. This can sometimes be a problem when I want to talk about my right wing views. I mean my left.

I'm both far-left and far right.

I like to hug all trees... except Joshua trees which I hunt down and eradicate.

I save the whales... so that I can oppress them and make them work below minimum wage.

Strange how the national media never picked up on this until now and never bothered with it when he was at West Ham or Swindon...The comments that they are using to justify all this ****e have been cherry picked from many broad political views he has expressed over the years..

Agree with first sentence but Don't be spoonfed the rest from the clubs ridiculous statement . He's a facist. You don't cherry pick facism.

Unless of course you believe nazi salutes were made to purely endear himself to the Lazio Ultras which would be so so much worse.

Sure he could just gas a couple if Jews. He wouldn't really mean it. Just trying to fit in you dig?

Di Canio the facist will blow over soon enough. After his first game, assuming he doesn't salute, everyone will be talking about how he:

1: Kicked his own player
2: Kicked the ref
3: Gave a press conference

It'll be all "Di Canio the card" come next week.

I am surprised you Liverpool fans are not more vocal in your chants regarding politics. Plenty of targets to aim at. Would make a change pouring scorn on a politician rather than Man U!! I would target Boris, Farage, Osborne. In fact any Tory being derided by a football crowd would make me smile. Politics was quite prevalent on the terraces in the early 80s. I witnessed it once in Chesterfield when they were being goaded by the fans of a southern club who had supporters with definite NF sympathies. The Chesterfield fans retorted with Tony Benn's name before he even became their MP. In Europe politics on the terraces is quite prevalent (St Pauli being a crowd with definite left-wing sympathies. Roma too. AC Milan to a lesser extent) In the UK, Celtic have close ties with St Pauli!! Barca and Bilbao fans have their own agenda!!

I don't like fans of clubs with right-wing views.

Be honest, a "Being Sunderland" series with Di Canio would be a lot more interesting than ours was with Brendan Brent.

A few additional things about Miliband the elder and his relationship with Sunderland

http://order-order.com/2013/04/02/a-masterclass-in-miliband-spin/

How convenient that “fascist” Di Canio gave David Miliband the perfect chance to loudly leave his £25,000 job at Sunderland Football Club on a matter of principle. How convenient too, that the former Labour-leader-in-waiting is getting away just at the time widespread anger is boiling over in Africa at the club’s sponsor: a sponsor that David Miliband secured. Regular readers will remember Tullow Oil.

According to the Guardian, David played a vital role in forging the Sunderland deal with Tullow, the African oil firm who have been humiliated this week after accusing the Ugandan President of being involved in a $50 million bribe, leading to the company making a grovelling apology.

He's as slippery as a bag of jellied eels.

He's a politician so is hard wired to exploit any situation that comes up and use the media to spin it in his favour
