Didn't think we'd get anything but was really hoping that Wigan, Southampton, Mackems, etc didn't get any either. Getting to be brown undies time.

Didn't expect anything today, but the manner of the defeat, the mistakes by Pardew in how we approached the game and the results of teams around us combine to make things very concerning.

Need two good results against Fulham and Sunderland. Can't say I'm overflowing with confidence and if we screw those two games up then I can't see us getting much change out of any of our final five games.

I agree. What worried me was:

    - How Pardew set them up with Jonas left back instead of Perch meaning Brie Head played. The general failure to fire them up.
    - The players showed a lack of mental fortitude and the usual inferiority complex. Defending was awful.

Big games against Fulham and Sunderland now. Hopefully we'll have two three to come back in and boost us.

I agree with most on here. I expected nothing from the game but the manner of defeat was shameful. Plus i fell into the trap of relying on other results to pull us out the ****e.A very dangerous place to be i should know better.

We need two wins by the end of the season, not two wins in our next two games.

Okay, two more wins by the end of the season, I will accept. But the Sunderland game is a six-pointer and that is more important than the Fulham game.

It's going to be horrible waiting and watching to see who goes through the run-in making the least amount of slip-ups.

Three points against Fulham would go a long, long way to safety. But it's the Sunderland game which is going to be the bigger of the two games. Wigan play Aston Villa in a crunch game at the end of the season which could, pretty much, decide on who's going down. The North-East Derby will be similar but, at the moment, won't be as crucial. But if we get turned over at home by Fulham, and it has happened when it shouldn't, then the Derby will be just as significant as the Wigan vs. Villa match.

It's going to be horrible and what does concern me is the goal difference; that's almost like having half a point less than anyone else.

Anyone who thinks that Newcastle are currently safe can borrow my handle until the end of the season.

    WE'RE ALL DOONED!!!!!!!! <wah>

But in all seriousness... Who cares? if we go down we'll jolly well deserve to, so it won't matter if everyone leaves... We can get Harper back and have Shola leading the line! <laugh>:emoticon-0115-inlov

Need to win the next 2 games or we're doomed? Not at all.

In reality world, if we win either of those games we're probably safe (I reckon 36 points would be enough, bottom two are gone so it would require only one of Villa, Sunderland or Wigan to finish poorly).

That said we're only a win away from the top half of the table and I'm hoping that we can get back to winning ways with these next two games as our last 5 are all 'winnable' games which could easily go either way and I wouldn't want to be relying on West Ham (A), QPR (A), Arsenal (H) for a point or two.

I can't actually believe we are even in this position ! You look at our line up even with the Injuries we've had and it's a mid table team easy. Pardew has some serious questions too answer even if we easily stay up. It's not good enough !
