    3.25 Fairyhouse

    Pencilhimin 16/1

This one falls into the 'could be anything' category and invariably comes with a lot of risks given he's thrown into a competitive 21 runner handicap on just his 2nd start but if Gavin Cromwell's charge is anywhere near as good as his breeding suggests he could easily make both the bookmakers and handicapper look foolish by 3.30 tomorrow. A horse who has clearly had an awful lot of issues given that he only made his debut 15 days ago at the age of 8, Pencilhimin is a full brother to the wonderful Gold Cup winning War Of Attrition and he certainly showed that connections perseverance was justified when winning very easily at Limerick over 2m5f earlier this month. Jumping well for the most part, Robbie Power didn't have to get Pencilhimin out of 2nd gear as he went on to score by an easy 4.5L and it was a very pleasing effort on racecourse debut. Granted, that race was absolutely terrible but he couldn't have won much easier and he'll surely come on a lot both in terms of fitness and experience for that run. The handicapper could have made a massive, massive error in judgement by giving him an opening handicap mark of 106 and I think its quite telling that connections, have obviously had a torrid time getting him to the track, pitch him into a very competitive looking 21 runner handicap on just his 2nd start and I'm guessing they feel he has a massive chance in landing this. Davy Condon takes over from Robbie Power who can't make the weight and Gavin Cromwell's charge should definitely appreciate the step up to 3m. Despite making his debut at a very late stage and being so inexperienced, if Pencilhimin possesses half the talented of his excellent brother then he has the potential to blow this field away off a mark of 106.

Quite fancy Mount Benbulben tomorrow Fairyhouse 4.30. Gordon Elliot said hes a much better horse going right handed and he showed his ability last time out at Thurles going that way, he beat the useful Lastoftheleaders by 11 lengths that day and he faces stiff competition from Oscars Well, Mikael D'Haguenet and co tomorrow. He travels so well through his races I think he can step up once more here and I think he willtake all the beating in what look's an average race for the grade.

Some Tikket 2.55 also catches the eye stepping into graded company and a very interesting booking of Barry Geraghty riding for Dermot Weld. He has won his last 2 races with considerable ease and on ground which wasn't ideal. Better ground and the significant jockey booking lead me to believe more is expected tomorrow and he rates a huge danger to the well thought of Bright New Dawn and Defy Logic.

    3.50 Musselburgh

    Moidore 13/2

Going to keep this short but I can't see John Quinn's 4 year old out of the first 3 and firmly believe he is the one they all have to beat. Formerly pretty progressive for Roger Charlton, this 4 year old joined John Quinn last August and after a solid effort on stable debut he stepped up to score impressively on his last start on the flat last September off a mark of 80 at Hamilton over 1m5f by 1.5L. Under tomorrow's pilot Michael O'Connell, Moidore sat in behind the pace before coming with a long persistent challenge before getting on top in the final furlong to score in dogged fashion. The form of that race looks strong with the runner up winning impressively on his next start off the same mark and it certainly looked as if there was more to come from this son of Galileo. Since then, Moidore has had 3 runs over hurdles where he was probably disappointing on his final start but I heard there was a possibility he was to have a breathing operation (I've no clue if they went through with it) and it can only be seen as a positive if he has. Even if he hasn't, the 5lb rise to a mark of 85 looks more than reasonable based on his latest flat success and I think he'll relish being stepped up an extra furlong. Seemingly versatile in relation to ground, Moidore is entitled to have grown quite a lot between the age of 3 and 4 and he certainly didn't come across as a horse who was exposed. Coming from the John Quinn yard which is clearly in sparkling form as they landed the Lincoln yesterday, I think Moidore has a fantastic chance of winning this and I'll be rather surprised if he doesn't at least fill the places.

I have to agree with SaveTheHumans.
I've been waiting for Mount Benbulben to reappear. He travelled like a dream at Thurles last time and absolutely hacked up.
He obviously prefers going right handed, but he gives the impression that he's really starting to get his act together.

    Is it doubles day today fellas? Here's mine then;
    All Annalena 9-4 3.10 Towcester & Court Minstrel 7-4 4.00 Plumpton.
Court Minstrel looks absolutely thrown in today, I cant go too big here though as there are at least two of "my horses" lurking to trip me up!

Formscan By Gary Carson - This looks a minefield and PENCILHIMIN may be worth a shot off a nice low weight. The full-brother to War Of Attrition won as he liked on his belated debut at Limerick a couple of weeks ago and although it wasn't the strongest of contests he can only beat what is in front of him. The second and third were rated 92 and 99 and a mark of 106 for his handicap debut here doesn't looks over-harsh judged on his performance and the likelihood of improvement.

Even the pros follow our ROTO, nice spot mate im on

Even Willie reads ROTO's Write ups

We also run two in the 3 mile novice handicap hurdle. Balnaslow (Davy Russell) couldn't jump at speed last time but that experience will stand to him here. He has a lot of weight however. The Paparrazi Kid (Ruby) will have learnt a lot from his last run and the drying ground will be a help. However,as the boy ROTO rightly points out on the super not 606 site, the winner of this race typically carries less than 10st 7lb, so it may pay to look at the lighter weights for the possible winner

I'd love Mikael to win today but the bookies don't half take the Michael when they price him up. 7/2? 7/2? I'd want 3/1 just for him to put in a good round of jumping before I've even thought about his chances of beating the field.

3.45 Cork - Salesin 7/1 - has 100% record at track and will probably try and make all from the front and they may not catch it.

4.35 Plumpton - Ministry 16/1 E/w - runs well here has been placed on 3 of 4 visits , can see it running into a place again today, but hard to see fav in this one being beat.

Lovely card at Fairyhouse today, had a small stakes Lucky 31 for interest:

    1.50 Benemeade
    2.25 Annie Power
    2.55 Some Tikket
    3.25 Pencilhimin
    4.30 Mikael D'haguenet

Also backed Some Tikket on the nose, really like his chances today.

I take Bright New Dawn (4/1) to upset the jolly Defy Logic in the 2.55

Defy Logic will take a bit of beating but Mala Beach 14/1 e/w for me.

Taking a chance on Mount Benbulben 10/3 as I have followed him all season and cant desert him now but I have to have a saver on Dedigout at 4/1 and I will do the reverse forecast. Think its between these two, can see Mount Bebnulben going best with Dedigout getting outpaced but I dont think there will be alot between them at the line.

Well done George with St Nic and the Animal, still two rags tho that wont be winning anything significant in Europe this season.

Oh, and unlucky with Imperial Monarch in the French Derby m8 ;) He had all the tactical speed, just couldnt get the run in time <laugh>
