i loved seeing alex bruce at full time today.. his face.. said it all to me.. ****ing delight.. honestly seeing his face at the final whistle on the subs bench was a season defining moment for me... i'll never forget it, that made me believe we are going up.. may sound daft but it 'touched' me
I agree.. he is doing his job fantastically... it's no secret huddersfield and burnley created nothing while he was on the pitch
Yes - Alex Bruce is definite unsung hero - the ****e he gets from some fans is crazy - he's been a fantastic signing
Yes I agree. It also touched me when we scored, just to see Bruce, he was so happy. Also, at full time when Faye came over to our fans and celebrated the win like promotion!
I would argue that it's only this season that he has realised what sort of player he is, as in previous years he played a lot more like a poacher. In addition I can't really remember him ever having a consistent run in the team playing with Fryatt.
I've got to agree with Alex Bruce being an unsung hero. He always gives 100% and sticks his foot or head in anywhere whenever it's required. It can't be easy being the bosses son but he geniunely looks like he is playing for the badge. Anyway I like his committment and the way he decked Lee. He's just like his mother.
For me Simpson isn't a striker, he seems to be more a passer, someone who can keep the ball & interlink play from deeper. I was actually thinking this yesterday, that he would be a better creative midfielder than a striker, but we have that already so unfortunately for him, I don't see him staying after this season regardless of where we are.
Simpson all the way, last night was a perfect example of something me and a few others have known for a while. You don't need to be a big man to hold the ball up, how long was Pearson saying he wanted a big striker for Fryatt to play off. All the while he had a player he himself signed that was brilliant at it and he never gave him a sniff, even playing that donkey Adebola ahead of him.
agree with all of the above, Simmo's an excellent footballer but not seemingly a great goalscorer.. and you need the Bruce type in a team..
agreed, i said after burnley simpson is the far better option away, Gedo has looked lost every away game hes played in, ...dont know if it would work to have an away striker and a home striker and alternate them every week or not tho,
The pass that Simpson laid on for Boyd yesterday was Premier league quality - absolutely class. A really small corridor of space and inch perfect for the arriving Boyd to hammer home. If we had a pass of the season - Simpson has just nailed it - you won't see better.
I do think that Alex Bruce has been a good signing and I too loved seeing his passion when the final whistle went. I just don't think defensive midfielder is his best position. I didn't think he had a great game against Huddersfield and along with Elmo was the first to be subbed in the 2nd half. I have some sympathy with a wing back like Elmo who is up and down the pitch having to defend and attack who occasionally gives the ball away, especially if they've been doing a lot of travelling away on international duty which makes Boyd's all over the park performance even more impressive. I don't think a defensive midfielder should be giving the ball away that much. I like Alex but not as a midfielder.
The celebrations from the bench at fulltime from Boyd, Alex Bruce (in particular) and the Egyptians to me spoke volumes of the team spirit. Hopefully that will get us over the winning line..
Hard to disagree with ^^^ this. Does not get the goals his overall play deserves but his effort is in the Aaron McLean class.
