It does seem a bit ridiculous to have a striker who hardly ever scores but he does do some very good work for the team. That pass today was the sort of thing you expect from someone like Gerrard.
Good touch, good vision, good workrate, strong but unfortunately just doesn't score enough. Although to be fair the chances don't always fall to him even though he has missed some good ones this season.
I really rate Simpson away from home! Surprised he gets the slaggings off he does. Takes so much pressure off with his hold up play and allows the midfield to operate. Not the best option for a home game however.
I wouldn't say he's top of the list, but it can't be easy being the Managers son. But he goes about his business well.
Watched on Sky - Simpson was outstanding. Surprisingly for a relatively small player he more often than not wins the ball. Excellent ball control - and his pass through to Boyd was a worthy match winning pass. I'd be offering him another deal, even if only for 12 months. He's one of those players I think will be better in the Prem.
Faye hasn't played much but when he has he's been reliable and has popped up with important goals too.
I think Simpson would really benefit from playing with a poacher, as he's at his best playing as the deeper striker in a front two. He doesn't make many attacking runs and he's not particuarly clinical infront of goal, which is why he struggled in the role he played at the start of the season, but he holds up the ball and links attack with midfield really well.
I know it's all about opinions and mine aren't always right but I thought Alex was our worst player today, some of the times when he gave the ball away I had my head in my hands. I hope we don't have to play him too many more times in that position.
I always thought the same until being put right. He breaks down attacking play. It may not be pretty but it worked.
Elmo and Meyler gave the ball away more then Bruce, AB isnt pretty on the eye but he does whats asked of him.
