so, 1-0 Millwall, results going our way again. Pity we can never do the business our self in these situations otherwise we could have had 2nd spot pretty much wrapped up by now!
Great shame that we gave away two points, but we have increased the gap between us, Palace and Leicester by a further point. From what I have read, Hollowhead had his press conference interrupted by angry fans. Not great when you have just let in seven goals in two games, but to want him out?
I nearly posted saying 'lets not repeat the Charlton game', decided not to tempt fate but the damage was already done. Really disappointing, but at least Fessi has his shooting boots on for Hull, hopefully he'll tear them to pieces.
Will we ever get a decent referee? Someone who actually knows the laws and understands why they are written in the way that they are and how to interpret them on a football pitch. Utterly fed up and somewhat ashamed of my 'colleagues'. Another appallingly inept display. Nope, he did nothing to contribute to the goals we gave away... collectively asleep for the first; ridiculous challenge to give away the penalty - yeah got that one right; another individual error for the third (nothing wrong with hoofing the ball into Row Z in the 93rd minute Mr Briggs). But serious errors of judgement from the referee who cannot distinguish the careless from the reckless from the excessive challenges and completely allowed the Burnley players intimidate him. Almost completely lost control towards the end of the first half. Chalobah in particular was lucky to escape serious injury, Fessi must be black and blue all over, ditto Deeney. Ignored Deeney when he tried to talk to him as captain. and don't start me on the freekick that got retaken. An absolute howler. Again.
He did seem rather fussy and let players control him to an extent probably due to frustration. Don't think this Burnley fan was too impressed: http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=104&fid=297&sty=2&act=1&mid=2112989373
What you mean the free kick in the first half which was taken, then he gave another for hand ball about 5yrds closer despite Ikechi having his arms crossed on his chest and body turned and the ball being hit at great speed directly at him. That farce? He was willing to give a free kick whenever two player came together, whether there was intent or not. At one point Deeney was running onto a loose ball, the Burnley defender cleared it but was off balance and the two collided. Not one player appealed, but he took it upon himself to award the freekick to Burnley. Then was the most blatant body check/obstruction by Ekstrand and he waves play on. Thats a booking every other day of the week, but not for Mr Coote. I saw the observer/assessor after the match and cheekily asked him what he thought of the refs performance, he just laughed and gave a wry smile and replied "i cant tell you". But I do wonder what the procedure is for disciplining an official, and how is that actually decided. As it stands, I think thats at least 2 officials who I would never let officiate above Sunday league.
BHD... I wouldn't let him referee a subbuteo match on that performance! Nor young Andrew Madley whom I think you must be referring to, oh hang on his brother Robert is reffing the Hull game Tuesday night.
Aye, they were them. Two incompetent fools, if ever there were any. Well I will add my thoughts tomorrow when I am awake and refreshed. I bid you all good night.
every week lately i've come here and felt thoroughly let down. Not necessarily by the team, nor even the ref (though this one was woeful), but by the team, and the ref, and the crowd and the result. There were some great performances today, don't get me wrong. Deeney was outstanding, Fitz Hall had a great game, and Fessi? Noone shows more passion and fights so hard. We miss Almunia desperately, as i've said before, not just in goal, but all over the pitch. He screams constantly...i just hope he gets back soon because without him we're throwing this away, and i do believe it's because he's not been playing that we've been losing ground. That's not to say that Bond isn't doing a job. He is, and in truth he didn't have a great deal to save to day, but he doesn't have Almunia's experience, presence and support or control. The ref was shocking. The crowd was nervous and quiet. The result was a kick in the teeth. My head says we can still make 2nd. My head says we can pull this round. But my heart is saying...we're in the playoffs, and we're going to struggle. Tonight i'm feeling more negative than i have in a long while, i hope it passes by Tuesday...because in Hull, i shall be cheering the team on...and willing them to victory! Meanwhile, for now...i'm a Huddersfield fan for a day!
Hornette, I've said it before but along with expectation comes disappointment and joy. I thought we would win this game at a canter but i reckon before each game now the opposing Manager shows his team the Palace game and says "that's what you do". Our new style has got the attention it deserves and the most effective method to null it out is to crowd the midfield, frustrate with time wasting and work hard getting to the second and loose ball. But lets not deceive ourselves, we looked poor in defence and each burnley goal came from a mistake and sloppy defending, on the other hand our goals were class and i thought Deeney and Fessi were outstanding yesterday. I fear for us if we go up and hope GFZ gets a grip of the defence as at times it was woeful. Yep, the officials were dire, not seen the like. Taking you point about the crowd, it still goes quiet but i was heartened this week with the vic end having a go, and my guests and I did our bit, i was even asked to stop swinging my scarf above my head, cant help myself.....
I'm pretty sure Hornet, that GZ is fully aware of the goalkeeping and defence situation and will remedy this before next season starts. I further find it interesting that as some players fade others come to the fore like Fessi recently. Look at Batto and how he knocked Hoggy out of the team. I personally don't think we will make automatic promotion but have a good chance at the play offs. one things for sure April is gonna be one helluva month!!! COYH's
Hull still have every chance of winning, but we could be 45 minutes away from completely getting away with yesterday!
However we were at home and that was a game we needed to win to close the gap - we cannot keep relying on thers - and I am still not betting against Hull unfortunately
