Perhaps there should be an award held every year for sportsmen being judged not only on their prowess in their chosen field, but also on their all-round contribution to the sport. Maybe a "Sports personality of the year" or something. That way POTY would be for the best players, and SPOT would be for the good players who also have a nice personality. Imagine that.
First Annual Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence and Betterment of Association Football in England
The fa are facing a racism charge from FIFA anyway so if Luis does win it he should say he cant accept it from them because of the racism charge and it would be bad for his rep to be seen anywhere near them.
If it had been an FA could they would probably give the young player award to Callum McManaman to apologise for Newcastle besmerching his name. These things are irrelevant really.
based on this season then suarez should get poty but probably rvp will be awarded it......bale does have an outside chance but if everyone puts aside their loyalties and votes fair then there is only one choice...suarez...
Indeed, bargain buy of the season? Hands down MICHU. Player of the season, it is the 3 Suarez, RVP, and Bale. Edit: Me personally, Mata has to be in the conversation, he has been unreal.
From my point of view, not seen a much better player at Loftus Road than Suarez ( although Gerrard got my MOM that game) but he wont get it. Sir Alex would never allow that! Too much off field stuff to have any chance I'l be suprised to see anyone but RVP get it. Depends what mood SAF is in when he decides it!
didn't have a clue to be honest, don't support them or care enough to google it, ask me to name their starting 11 i would struggle, same as most other teams in fairness. thought he might have been a Newcastle,Stoke type player but wasn't sure. surprised you didn't pick me up on the Mirilas comment as well, doesn't he player for them as well? Michu and Mata have been quality players this season, trouble is narrowing it down to 3 out the choices. quite looking forward to seeing the Swans on tele in Europe for next season, shame we wont be joining them lol, they play some entertaining football, just hope Southampton can stay up as well then we can start to see some good football being played in the prem from now on.
Distin did used to play for Newcastle to be fair. We had him on loan and Bobby wanted to sign him up but City sneaked in and got him instead.
Leaving aside all the negatives associated with him ( diving, the nastiness - punching, Evra etc) i think he does not deserve to get the POTY award because he was/is not the best player in the prem this season. He scored the most goals because no one else was scoring for the team. He did not make liverpool better than last season. The team is at the same league position and last year was in line to get more trophies. I think he's more likely to get third place.
By that logic Bale is out of the running as well then yes? Your logic that a player can't win because the rest of his team haven't scored enough goals is ridiculous. It's an individual award, nothing to do with team mates. Again, you say that Liverpool aren't doing very well in the league, technically at the moment we are above where we were so in theory we are doing better in the league (even though it is only small). You're suggestion means that a team must be higher than he was in the previous year to be considered for it? We're always told that a forwards job is to score goals and they are judged on their goal scoring, in that case Suarez has been the best forward in the league so far as he's scored the most goals. We all know he won't win it as he's not the darling of the league like Bale & RVP are, but if he were to win it you'd be hard to argue against it.
