Seriously guys, whats the deal with this march 25th thing? what do we have to do to get it back to normal..... Im not a techy so is there anything i can do?.......or is it a site thing? Ill expect the usual boll*x from the usual suspects! .lol
The problem wasn't our site, Queens. It was much, much bigger than that - a whole DoS attach on Spamhaus that was bigger than previous attacks on server farms by an order of magnitude approaching five or six times more data than anything previously sent to anyone. It affected huge chuunks of the internat globally, and this site was one of the unlucky ones. Add to that the ongoing issues that all web forums get with spam, malware and the like, and ultimately, the admins needed to roll back to a point they knew was clean. Mush like Windows lets you roll back to previous configurations if you pick up a bug or a problem with your PC - as a last resort it rates just ahead of wiping the whole box and starting again. Nothing any users can do, except report stuff when they see anything unusual (pop-ups, browser redirects, DT saying anything sensible and lucid, that kind of thing...)
Of course anyone sensible knows the way out of this sort of thing! I revert back to using one of my original computers which are made entirely of wood ...
