Black Caviar to go out with a Bang

Black Caviar will be returning to the UK this year to show us just how good she really is. After ambling to an effortless victory over the best of the rest, on the bridle in record time, she will be off to visit FRANKEL. Wham bam thankyou mam.

My optimistic prediction.

 

The owners, or at least one of them, seems keen on the idea. If they want her to visit Frankel regardless, they can bring her over for Royal Ascot and if they're not happy with her she can be retired and go straight to the stud. The earliest they can cover her for the Aussie season is end of August/beginning of September.

Black Caviar was no fluke.

Bred by Rick Jamieson, prominent breeder and racehorse owner who has great pride in his small broodmare band at Gilgai Farm, Black Caviar is the result of many hours pouring over pedigrees, breeding theorys and inspecting horses.

The first mating to Helsinge – who has great links to Eliza Park. By resident stallion Desert Sun, she is a daughter of Eliza Park’s blueblood broodmare Scandinavia.
Scandinavia has producing another Eliza Park stallion – this years hot first season sire Magnus. Himself a Group 1 sprint winner of The Galaxy and also trained by Peter Moody.

Black Caviar was the first foal out of Helsinge, sold as a half sister to Magnus who had already won his Group 1 – presenting a beautiful page for when Jamieson placed her through the sale ring.

Black Caviar hails from the family that has also produced stakes winners Muirfield Village, Russian Tea Room, Frosty the Snowman and Midnight Sun. These all hailing from the unraced Vain mare Song of Norway who produced many good horses for another prolific Victorian breeder – Mr David Hains, best known in racing circles as the man who raced the mighty Kingston Town.

Black Caviar has what is known as a double cross to Vain. Vain – the horse that many regard as Australia’s greatest sprinter – in fact plays a significant part in this great mare’s pedigree.
