I ****in loves it. Anyone who has got an issue (including 'esteemed' mods) after reading what they posted on another thread, please step up to the mark and make my ****ing day. I promise to be ****ing erudite in my response
I wait with baited breath....but will probably get a ban after the PM I sent! If so, bring it on. I'm not having any jumped up keyboard warrior sprog dissing me and my family. I think it was James Brown himself who shouted "Sing it loud, Townhill and I'm proud!"
geez what have i missed this time? whats wrong with townhill - cos its mainly a council estate? silly reason if that is the case, will check other threads
If you find it let me know Musty - I was a gendros boy who hung around Penlan and we had issues with the townhill crowd aqnd they with us - especially after 10 pints down the Rank on a saturday
Townhill has views of the bay better than anywhere I have ever seen in any place I know. Whenever I'm home I always head up there for a walk just for childhood nostalgia. I find that it grounds me and reminds me where I come from.
According to #53 and #55 of the 'lost identity thread', my family and I are the scum of the earth. Nice, prejudicial behaviour from a SWANSEA mod....mmmmmm?????? PS you are right about the views Brisbane. I am blessed enough to open my curtains every day to the whole Bay....shame I cant see my old Vetch anymore.....but at least BP Baglan Bay has gone also! Just for you, heres a snap from the internet (but could have been from my bedroom window!) please log in to view this image
As an ex Landore boy,I always envied the views from Townhill. Back in the day,The Tower Ballroom was the place to go,although a bit before my time. Nowt wrong with Townhill.
Please do state Swimaway where I stated anything about the people that lived there? I was commenting on the area in retaliation to other posts about their views of the Valleys, pointing out that the Valleys and surrounding areas of Swansea look far more the same than some people think.
Nothing to do with it being a council estate Musty, just pointing out that it is a very familiar area to many parts of the Valleys, which some on here had no problem taking the pi$$ out of
Swim - are you going to go to the annual Pride march they have in the town centre now that you are you"Townhill and Proud"?
Swim- you are the exact case in point when I mentioned most swans fans either went past the old stadium or looked at it every morning when they woke up.it's why when the club was in deep **** the fans got onside and got behind the team and removed petty from the club. The club is a part of us and we have the attachment to it that a lot of the redbirds don't . Town hill has the best views of the bay by a mile, it ain't or ever was a **** hole as some people think,it has rough areas like anywhere else, compare with most valley areas..well,you just can't compare it can you! A view of old slag tips and boarded up shops with places like gurnous and hirwein ain't quite the same, that is a fact I'm afraid to say. Nice places everywhere though, the valleys has some nice spots but not many,Swansea is the same too, a lovely ugly town one piss head called it !
Great view of the Liberty and a short 20 minute walk for me , 40 minutes from the Gower & the Beacons ,Swansea Bay for my recreational needs ,plenty of shops , (you can only wear one pair of trousers at a time ) .tidy places to eat out . I 'm truely blessed
Oh... what have I come back to? My missus' family is in Townhill. To be honest, that place is getting spruced up bit by bit. There are not that many rough area's left and let's be honest with ourselves, even when Townhill, Bonymaen etc were at the worst in the 1980's they were no worse than area's like the top end of Clydach or Pontardawe or Morriston. If anybody from Swansea or the region has anything to say about Townhill that is derogatory then I dare those people to leave Wales and go take a look at places in cities like Stoke, or Newcastle, or Hull, or London. The other side of the missus' family is from Stoke-on-Trent whilst my fathers side is from London. I can guarantee that if somebody even looked at another person wrong in deprived estates in those two cities , they'd be wearing a kitchen knife inside their neck before they even said a thing. Those cities have real rough places, Swansea is a very friendly place in comparison to many other regions in the UK. There is not one single "no go area" in Swansea, but there are many "no go areas" in other cities in the United Kingdom and unfortunately I have had the misfortune of walking through them.
