So, if we go down (still if until its over) do we think we can bounce straight back as Newcastle and West Ham did or will we be in danger of the slide like Wolves? With Tony's declaration of life long commitment, I would hope we can bounce straight back. However if the last two years has taught me anything at all, it is to make no assumptions and approach the season with humility. Thoughts?
Hi 9s. Sounds fun but I'd prefer 1st or 2nd. I think it is about who TF and co can persuade to stay and give it a go.
If you went down I could definitely see a return if not in the 2014/15 season then 2015/16 at the latest. Honest mistakes were made by non-football people. Just needs a few tweaks here and there and rectifications and you'll be good to go. Bright future ahead at Loftus Road even if relegated (which would only be a minor setback in the long term goal of the club).
Hi DL, I hope you are right but this season has taught me to be very cautious. Still, not quite over yet.
I agree with the 1st or 2nd mate but you know that's not how we do things in the Bush. 2011 was a freak accident and we didn't even get to enjoy that properly.
Hi Kilburn. Personally I have heard enough from TF & Co to believe we are not doing a Pompey. Apart from all the positive stuff they have publically stated, I do not believe these guys want their name associated with failure. Therefore, I could see them selling when we are a properly successful club - whenever that might be.
Ain't that the truth?! Beggers belief there was never a celebration bus tour. I was gettinfg ready to juggle rotas at work to be there.
Speculation of course but you only have to look at our squad even through the gloominess of thoughts to see we have names that would eat that championship apart. Speculation it is only but I believe most of our players would stay anyway and we have enough to win that league in depth Luke Young, Korean Young, Ali Faurlin, SWP, Ben Haim Clint Hill Jenas Johnson Traore Bosingwa, Mackie Zamora Bothroyd ... jesus ... Look at it and that's without naming anyone that might cause a few posts to say he will be off etc ... Park, Granero, Cesar, Green all quoted as saying they're staying. The simple fact that so many on here over look is that the players seem to like and believe in the building of our club ... I can't align myself with the views that we are doomed either way and will sink You only have to look at the unity and play I have always believed in that is at last looking like its living up to the rep ... Doom doom doom .. posts about SWP, Bosingwa, Park and how we should do this or that and but unknown youngsters ... wake up at look at the squad today and then you may realise exactly how good our squad is. Yes we have been too cock sure ... Yes you get a extra fight from other teams ... Yes we get stick from other fan bases ... ever asked yourself why? Useless current Shiity British Culture that wants anyone with ambitious and drive to fail .. anyone with money like us are now slagged off as being wasters etc ... I said it would happen it has .. I said this team /squad is too good and eventually will click ... we have only just seen the signs ... These players are gelling and I have been right all along I am certain of it ... 24 points to go for and sorry but we can beat anyone now when we need it. Jenas has been quality so has Townsend, we have a great striker in Remy. Bosingwa SWP Park ... have in just a few matches shown that I was right to hold faith and I can sense more and more of us growing again in unity even on here ... we also have a fight in our belly, a soul, a spirit and have learnt yet again that can't be brought in on tap etc ... Hughes did good things for this club and was unlucky IMO that nothing worked or gelled in that I am saying .. it's the past now and time to forget that nightmare it doesn't matter a **** and I think we are all realising that now ... sometimes as in life we have to learn a harsh lesson of sinking to the bottom but at least we know the entire depth ... that and only that grows the soul and the spirit and we will in a better position of course come next year regardless of the level we are playing at. The saying being out of our depth will not apply to this club and this squad Christ lads wake up its spring and time to dance ... I know we have been through it ... that's our story but we can win and control football matches and we do have a bunch that really do care about their work and this club. If we fail I fully expect us to storm the championship however I still believe we will survive and not only that we will be a very good side next year whatever.
Yeh, great stuff Dave. Only player I'm not with you on is Park, but do realise he could be a good to have in League 1, if the very worst happens.
No doubt you would, RTID. Unfortunately, statistically, we'd be lucky to get a playoff spot. I don't have the Stats but I'd guess that out of the 60-odd teams that have been relegated since the inception of the Premier League, only around 15% have managed to jump straight back up. I'd like to see the actual Stats but that's my guesstimation. I would say its actually the opposite. I think it is about who TF and Co can manage to offload and get off the wage bill. This current squad haven't been "getting it up" for us all season in the PL. They're certainly not going to be up for the slog of the Championsh*t. No, the only chance we'd have is if we managed to sell all the high-earning, under performers and make some wise purchases, bringing in a few young, hungry players who are up for a scrap.
