Graham Turner felt his Shrewsbury side might have claimed a decisive penalty in the 1-1 draw with Crewe. Turner added: "Four points from games at MK Dons and Crewe are a good return, especially in the position we're in. "We've done quite well over a period of time when we've gone a goal down. "We denied Crewe chances and we always looked a threat on the break. But we allowed them a bit too much room for the 15 minutes after half-time which could have been costly." Oldham boss Tony Philliskirk launched a scathing attack on his side after they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth. Philliskirk said: "To play like we did in the first 45 minutes was totally unacceptable. It was embarrassing. "I've been at this club for 15 years and I don't think I've seen a worse, more abject 45 minutes in all of that time. - Sky Sports News Form table:

Team Pld W D L F A GD GFA GAA PpG Pts Form

17 Shrewsbury Town (18) 8 3 1 4 11 13 -2 1.37 1.62 1.25 10 dwLlLWwL

19 Oldham Athletic (21) 8 3 0 5 7 10 -3 0.87 1.25 1.12 9 LlLWwWll

Team form Shrewsbury - Home Oldham - Away

Rank 14th 18th

Played 19 18

Wins % 32% 28%

Draws % 37% 17%

Losses % 32% 56%

In the last game Oldham beat us one nil although we had 56% possession and slightly more shots on goal, on paper we look pretty even, however looking at their away form above they have lost a lot more on their away travels which might bode well for us. Useless facts for the game - Oldham Athletic were once called Pine Villa FC in 1895 and their mascot Chaddy the Owl was once flagged offside by a linesman in 2000 against Peterborough Utd. On a more serious note , this game is essential for both town and Oldham adn will be a real six pointer for both trying to ensure League 1 survival. If town can get the win and other games go our way then we might well be on the road to enjoying the remaining games. I expect there will be a good crowd coming down to watch the game so will involve some lively banter. Stick your predictions and any news you find down in the thread. Come on you blues, floreat salopia and may the best team in Blue and Amber win. Additional: Cameron Gayle out for up to a month with a grade1/2 hamstring injury - This injury has now passed and he is fit to play!! ------- Town is now safe in League One. Oldham have sneaked above us the cheeky scamps. Obviously the stats above are not the latest, but I cannot see us fielding the strongest squad and Oldham might not either. The only things to play for now is the percentage cut of the prize money for finishing in anywhere up to 16th for town rather than the lesser money of 20th and the other being the final league postion being more saleable to potential signings in the summer.
an excellent post, i will add my thoughts after tomorrows games. oldham have 3 games in hand we could do with h/pool blunting one of them.

Had a lift home off a fellow Ford Heathion today in the shape of everyone's favourite scouse winger. Seems like a nice chap, if somewhat bemused by the controls of his (very nice) car. Good too see not all footballers are too egostistic to save a fellow person from walking half a mile down a road covered in ****e. So, on that note: Shrewsbury 4-1 Oldham (JT x4)
I predict we will put our relegation worries behind us with a convincing home win - (3-0 Eaves 2, Taylor) in front of 5900 reasonably ecstatic fans.
He lives out that way does he? Blimey Sharps and Parry are in Baschurch, where next for these chaps?!? I hope you asked him to promote not606.com on his t-shirt the next time he scores a goal I won't do any short jokes as he was such a nice fella to do what he did for you!
It's not too far, about 10/15 minutes from the ground. Less if you drive like JT, who drives like he runs! Sharps is still in Baschurch isn't he? Must've been a mighty trek to Rotherham.
town really need to win this game but let us consider last nights demolition of h/pool under the diriction of their new very young manager, oldham come to the meadow with every thing to play for, games in hand and at the beginning of a revival. up until this game the owdham had taken 9 points out of 18, losing their last 3 games to top 4 sides. their away form is w5 d3 L10 f18=a28. but with a new young manager past form may count for nothing. in addition oldham have signed norwich m/f on loan 22 year old korey smith. as for saturdays result i believe town may lose 1-0 to oldham in front of 5333. scorer richards. prove me wrong shrews! floreat salopia!
Another draw, let's try another 1-1 with Richards scoring (yes, I am not feeling well and it may be the virus talking!!!) Looks like it might be a bit parky this weekend so only 5,432 loyal fans turn out
with unseasonal severe weather due to hit the n/w, north wales and the midlands friday/ saturday, is saturdays game doomed to a replay. oldham and shrewsbury will be in the thick of very heavy snowfall. stop red alert. stop.
