So GFH (the parent) announce in their annual report that the club is "held for sale" on their books, and they have opened negotiations to sell. The GFH Capital guys say not so, only want to sell 30% but that won't stick when your bosses say otherwise.

Steve Parkin, Yorkshire multi millionaire is seen as the man talking to GFH about taking over, and he is supported by middle eastern businessmen. Another "lifelong fan" like Haigh, will he succeed in his bid to own Leeds?

We are all frustrated at what's going on, so do you feel Parkin will finally be the right owner? He failed in February with a bid, but now that GFH bosses have made it clear they are selling, chances are he will push the deal across the line. If he is close to getting this done, I would have thought he'd have a manager lined up to replace Colin, and probably would have sounded out his candidate on what he needs to take Leeds up.

Parkin sounds like a person we would want at Leeds, or could it be that anyone looks better than what we have right now?

Theres probably a little of both there Billy. He will be the right man if he is able to organise substantial funds to strengthen the team in a big way. All the other stuff will follow.Proper footie played by proper footballers (not journeymen no one wants) and gates and merchandising will soar. I don't think anyone really believed gfh were the outfit to bring us to the pl.
Also wonder where has the yank gone who was hanging around in early December. Maybe he was a bates smokescreen

Parkin has seriously supported Leeds all his life and has had a box for years he offered more than bates when bates took offer but had his bid rejected.

One of his company's earns 200 million a year and he wants that to increase to 500 million,

This man is serious and will get us back where we belong.

He was match sponsor at the weekend and would have offered more support to lufc if bates wasn't in the picture

When I saw the title I thought you were signing big Jon Parkin on loan. Probably better than your current strikers <ok>

I suspect that one day we’ll thank GFH for ridding the club of Bates and buying the club off him despite the byzantine ownership structure. It’s clear that in the past others have been interested in buying the club but been put off by the complex nature of the club’s ownership and/or not wanting to deal with such a deplorable character like Bates. Buying the club off GFH should be a much easier proposition so it’s likely that quite a few bidders will come in for the club. Although there is currently a difference between what GFH and their parent company are saying, so a risk that the former might just accept the largest bidder, regardless of whether it’s the best thing for the club.

It’s also unlikely that we’ll get an owner willing to spend vast amounts of money. When you think of it, it’s only really Chelsea and Man City who have had silly money spent on them. Even the likes of QPR have hugely rich owners but even they are unwilling to invest much in the team. I’d just love it if we had our equivalent of Daniel Levy at Spurs – someone who can introduce a long term plan which includes substantial but sustainable investment in quality players who play fantastic football.

And Leicester is a great example of how to get your owners to spend lots of money and still **** up a promotion bid :emoticon-0102-bigsm

O and Bates refused to deal with Parkin or Pearson so I reckon gfh only did it to get the Yorkshire consortium on board

They are in danger of missing out on the play offs. Although what happens to Leicester is of no consequence to me <ok>

After losing at home to the Dog Botherers last Saturday, I am really keen for Colin to go, and it seems that will only happen if the GFH clowns go. WTF are they doing taking advice from Colin on who the next manager should be? Probably end up with Blackwell again.

Spot on that mate, and I suspect that not only the yank who was sniffing around, but the main arab who was trying to buy the club, with GFH fronting it will be back now that Bates has gone at the end of the season. That arab had the cash, but refused to work with Bates or deal with him after doing his 'due dilligence'. He wanted Bates to sign an indemnity clause which meant that any future problems would go back to Bates and not the club. Bates refused to sign so the deal fell through and GFH decided to do it themselves, just to clean up the mess and smokescreens around our accounts. I thank GFH for getting rid of Bates and hope they move the club on soon to a proper owner

Doc - only flaw there is the FACT that GFH have openly admitted that they were the buyer all along. They were never just a broker.
The only rumours of other intersted party's came from LUST (and we all know what a croc of **** they spilled over the Summer) and Bates himself (the fact that he was pictured with the yank stepping off a plane indicates it was nothing more than a publicity stunt to force GFH's hand)
The reason it took so long was them raising the necessary cash!

Is this the same QPR that twice smashed their transfer record in January, who have brought in:
Samba;
Jenas;
Remy;
Ben Haim;
Mbia;
Granero;
Cesar;
Bosingwa;
Park;
Hoilett;
Fabio;
Diakite etc.

I'm sure I heard a report on 5Live that also said that their wage bill is now something like 107% of their turnover

Where's the quality there? Ben Haim, Hoilett and Jenas are Championship players. The rest are Premiership has beens. Only Cesar is class. Look at the players that Man City signed in the first season their owners took over - Kompany, de Jong, Zabaleta, Given, Robinho. There's ambition.

All you said was that QPR haven't invested in the team, you never mentioned quality.

In any event, I'm not sure you could call Park, Granero, Mbia, Fabio, SWP, Remy to name a few as being has beens. Most of them are still young. Granted, they may not be world class, but clubs like QPR will never attract the top drawer players
