I will post the link to the story below, basically his agent says he has no intrest in going anywhere and is happy in Swansea...but if somebody like a top 4,5 or 6 club comes in and puts money on the table then he will have the conversation with the Chairman !

To me the story sounds like his agent paving the way to a move, but i am a synical mother ****er sometimes !!

If he is very happy here then why does his agent need to tell us that? there is alot of him talking about how he is growing with the Swans etc,etc but then he negates the whole feel good factor of the story by telling us how he would"talk to the chairman " if firm offers were on the table !!

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11731/8579389/

Its therefore my view that Ash is setting in motion the wheels of a potential transfer out of Swansea, of course it could also be a way of trying to up things in his new recent contract but the ink is hardly dry on that ! looks like if Arsenal or Liverpool make a firm offer then he will go, i wouldnt blame him for going to one of those clubs,he would have deserved the move after being great for us, the telling thing for me in the agents statement is the "top 4,5 or 6 club" that is basically Liverpool IMO (the top5 or 6 bit, should perhaps have said top 7 as well!)

Anyway, i would love to hear my fellow Jacks take on this story, does it sound like the agent paving the way or is there nothing in this story ?

I personally beleive that most agents that talk to the press do it for a specific reason and that is mostly to drive a deal through or put their player on the market, they live for their percentage and not for the welfare of the player <ok>

    Thoughts ?

All agents make comments to try and boost the price up for their own ends.....If there is nothing in it then there would be no reason to respond is there.....typical agents ploy for their own ends...

That what im thinking too Dai, its all about the pound signs for these guys, Ash is at the right age for one last big pay day,at least thats what his agent will be telling him !! i hope Ash stays here i really do, but its looking a bit ominous to me. Be intresting to know what the club think, agents talk to clubs all the time so his agent will already know what clubs would be prepared to take him in the summer, its only a conversation along the lines of "i can get you Ash williams on a 3yr deal at 50k a week, at around £8-10m , give us a call if that works for you" mention that to the right people and its all in motion.

There may be substance to the statements. Ash is the backbone of this team. He is a presence and he might like that, like it a lot, like more than a lot of cash. Who's to say? But he has a longer term contract and if he wants to jump ship that gives us some upside. If he goes then we need to nail down Chico to something longer term and start pairing him with Ben in the middle to build a future.

Or possibly enquire if Caulker will be available on a transfer. Not as if he's a 1st team starter each week for Spurs and would be young enough to eventually move on to a top four team in the future once he has fully developed. Was excellent for us last year and I would welcome him back with open arms.

Why would we want to offload our best CB? Matter of fact, he's been one of the best Center backs of the Premiership this season! ....As Shona Black of the Bleacher Report stated "Pundits feared for Swansea's spectacular defensive record when loanee Steven Caulker returned to Tottenham for the 2012/13 season. But captain Ashley Williams has formed a formidable partnership with Chico and remains one of the league's top centre-backs". He is not going anywhere, and I'll put money on it! Chill out girls.......................<cheers>

PS: I think we would find ourselves back in the Championship pretty soon if we started to dismantle our defence! Huw won't allow it, there's £65 Million riding on it! Williams is going nowhere...................<ok>

I hope your right Dragon, i often think about how footballers make it to the top the hard way and if that makes them perhaps more loyal than ones who have had it easy in comparison. Time will tell on that theory i guess.
It would be very hard to gel our defence yet again if we lost Ash but i saw the extension of monks contract as a way of keeping continuity in the squad if we lost a couple of regulars, ive always liked the fact our team seem a tight bunch and i beleive Ash has taken on alot of this kind of thing with the new players of course with gary there too.
Losing a player like him could set us back drastically, i was dead against Joe Allen being sold as i thought it was more about sending out the wrong signals to other players and other clubs but that worked out really well for us as it turned out.

One thing i do wonder about is the amount of times our club have got it right, it is quite freaky when you think about it, i dont know if its by luck or judgement but how long can we keep making the right moves, ??
I feel that Jenkins would dig his heels in on this one but it may also be that Laudrup decides he can get better with the money, problem we will start to have is that our foreign numbers would be dangerously high and that might force us to make a few rash decisions in terms of transfers, ie, buying below par British players for stupid money!

This agent just sounds like he is waving the "for sale" sign around as far as im concerned and Ash is at that age where he may be looking for the glamour and the big contract that would see him nicely to the end of his playing days. Brenden will be one to watch IMO , i think he will bid for him in the summer and then we may have a problem, i guess Laudrup and Larsen are probably checking out alternatives but i hope Ash will be here to lead us into Europe and beyond.

Top 4-6? Well, at least he won't be off to Liverpool then.

my thoughts are the agent is either looking for another upgraded contract (no clue what money Ash is on) or putting out the feelers (each way bet) but Huw is not stupid and if Ash was to be sold it would be in Swanseas advantage, not the buying clubs for sure
