    OMG!!!! Alonso beats Button!!! WOW!!

This is why he is the best driver on the grid. He always gets the most from the car.

    Well done to Webber!

    Good lap from Alonso.

[EDIT] - Although on the silver lining, that should mean that Button will be on the grippy side of the grid.

Nothing between Hamilton, Alonso, Button. Alonso jumping Button could be good for Button because Alonso has not started well this season and it moves Button onto the clean side of the grid.

I like what McLaren are doing with their Hugo Boss overalls this season. I think the other teams should do the same. Qualifying should always be a competition for stupidest overalls.

Ha, yeah and he deserves that standing ovation from the crowd!

Alonso VERY VERY close to Hamilton as well ---- and McLaren brought 10-12 significant updates -- while Ferrari lost performance with rear wing and upset balance - --- the car was "undriveable" and had massive understeer in 3rd Practice. Excellent lap from Alonso.

I hope BBC show Alonso's lap - because it sure must have been special

Forza to Mark Webber as well!

Good stuff by Mark, heard vettel's KERS wasn't working for the last run so it should be a good fight on race day.

Lewis looked shaken after those Red Bull times and isn't sounding 100% with the flat spot he has to race with.

Ok, ok, very good Alonso but the race is tomorrow. He's one down on tyres; let's see how he plays it - tomorrow he splits the Red Bull; second after Webber :)

And for the Mclaren overalls totally disagree - today's ones looks like a clown costume, at least the legs

Completely agreed. Best 2 drivers of the day.

Webber - Finally owned Vettel - wiped that smile, confidence and arrogance (finger) from Vettel. Don't think KERS would have made much of a difference. Don't really care that my zkdf1 pole prediction was off.
Alonso - What a lap! I hope FOM show the lap.

Where did Alonso get that lap from. Stunning!

The battle for 3rd will be interesting tommorow. 3/100s of a second seperate Button, Alonso And Hamilton. Hamilton has the best grid slot, but Brundle said he flat-spotted the tires while Alonso has used an extra set of tires than the McLarens.

Haha - well, that must be why he's the most complete driver on the grid.

It was a sensational lap but he's used an extra set of options. That said, Hamilton may be weak on his first set because of the flat spot.

Great job Mark. Pushed him hard and disregarding the KERS issue still beat his teammate.

Alonso close to Hamilton with a mighty effort. But I think used all his softs(????)....

Hamilton flatspotted it but I dont think that will be a problem.

I can almost guarantee they will, they have already had Vettel, Hamilton and Button, Webber will be Turkey, and they usually only repeat drivers later on in the season and seeing as the best lap was done by Alonso and he has not been shown yet it will be his lap.

With Alonso using up his soft tyres and Hamilton flat spotting his, could this play into the hands of Button?

KERS be damned, it's just good to see someone (anyone) else get a pole position this season. Webber is raising his game race by race and, if we have to watch a Red Bull version of 2002 or 2004, let's hope they give us a better show.

The Red Bulls and McLarens have a set of options over the ecstatic Alonso, but a flat-spotted Hamilton might be more circumspect about nailing the first few corners than he was in Turkey. I believe Button has tried throughout the practice sessions to learn the new super hard compound but I doubt it will serve him well in the race. Schumacher is starting on the super-hard primes.

At least we have two races to look forward to: Webber vs. Vettel and then the rest among themselves.

Petrov and Alonso really did nail sector 1 they were up in Red Bull territory. The Mclaren was the slowest through sector 1, even Maldonado was faster which is interesting.
