The time to judge Steve Bruce will be when he leaves. I'm happy to say he's doing a good job and hopefully in 2 or 3 years time will have become our greatest ever manager. But I'm worried that all the people bigging SB up now will be EXACTLY the same ****ing ones leading the bitching and sniping when he's left, the ones saying that Steve Agnew was the real brains, the ones saying he never liked Hull and only used us to get a better job, the ones bitching about his looks or 'media persona'....the usual suspects making ****s of themselves in their usual turncoat away. Don't let it be you Strovvy!
That depends on the circumstances of his leaving. If it is in the same sordid manner in which Pearson left then that will surely spoil any success he would have had with us, and he would rightly be criticised. That was not my point earlier. I had grown tired of Pearson a good while before he left for the reasons I have mentioned. Not sure why you have brought Holloway into the debate, maybe you think by accusing the anti-Pearson lobby of also wanting a Holloway character you would win some argument. Not true, Holloway is the exact opposite of Pearson, with the ideal miles away from either. Bruce answers questions honestly and with good humour, questions the fans would like the answers to. He doesn't seek the limelight nor the contaversial. That, together with the fact he can manage, make him worth 10 of either Holloway or Pearson. Oh, and it wasn't the fans that were turncoats!
Democracy is the only way to sort this out. On the " Who's the biggest **** " poll on this forum NP received more votes than Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, Colonel Gadaffi and Adolf Hitler.
He had no respect for the fans or the players. His interviews were not 'keeping cards close to the chest' - he was just a bitter, antagonistic old **** who never strung more than 3 words together and made snarky remarks. His football was **** - throw a ping pong ball to a couple of crabs and you have the same effect.
When Burnsy said some of the fans were questioning the selection of players for home games, Pearson said " I don't care what the fans think" I disliked him from the start arrogant twat.
"Why have you decided to join Hull City?" "I'm only here because Leicester don't want me" That was enough for me. He never wanted to be here, the majority of normal fans didn't want him here, and he knew that. Hence him crying about it every time we play them. Another classic was "The fans want you to stay Nigel" "Do they?" Not really Nigel. If we'd had a "director of football operations" who was prepared to admit he'd made a mistake he'd have been gone a year earlier.
So he never said anything during interviews, but you hated him for what he said during interviews? I serverely doubt he said that, the "Do they?" comment is right up his alley though, and no doubt he got more stick from fans at Hull than he used to get at Leicester.
It's not his boring-ness that was the problem really (that was exaggerated IMO, especially regarding the football he had us playing) it was his short-ness in interviews and the way he spoke like such a spoilt little bitch to the fans that pissed everyone off.
