Owen to retire at the end of the season

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Flappy Flanagan (JK), Mar 19, 2013.

  1. IMO, Owen wouldn't be able to play as a lone striker. Heskey was the perfect partner in crime for him too <ok>

Crouch and Owen were very good for England to. I think Rafa would have paired them together.

  3. doubt we would have bought Crouch (or Bellamy) had Owen stayed (and been good)

As mucha Judas as he is now, he was one of my favorites when he came on the scene.

    Retiring?

He stopped playing football in 2005!

He's just be warming benches, fluffing his race horses, and keeping doctors employed since then.

  8. Apparently, in a recent interview he was asked if he had any regrets and his answer was "no but Istanbul will be this in the summer". Make of that what you will...

I liked him. Great player in his prime.

  11. I disagree, in his prime years (25-29) he was ****. Much better before his prime <ok>

Good point. . At least he is small enough to have a career as a jockey when he retires.

Have to say i've been brutal with him since he went to United and it has soiled him.

However my heart is saying well actually I finished school watching him bang them in for us, and was often our main hope for England and putting those Argentine bastards in their place is always a plus, means actually I found it quite sad when I heard.

Still not impressed that he went there but he did some good things for us too. He also did try and come back to us after Madrid which people forget about and Rafa snubbed him meaning he had to go to Newcastle.

I've heard that he's following a new career path playing rugby for Stoke <ok>

Did I tweeted earlier that when Owen left Madrid the only team he wanted to move to was Liverpool, but the Magpies offered more than us. Owen has tweeted back saying he's had to bite his lip for years and its difficult to say what you want when you are still playing.

Looking forward to hearing what he has to say.
