Absolute outrage at this decision. The F.A. are just a bunch of idiots who don't want to rule on this act of violence ( might upset Mr. Halsey )I believe had it been a Joey Barton, Lee Cattermole type player they would have been banned for the rest of the season.
Had this been a Man U player who was injured then you can rest assured old red face would have gotten a result from the FA

Just pure comedy from the FA. Not really surprising. Spineless and farcical. Pleased with the way the club has dealt with it. We've stayed out of the media about it and not made any silly comments a la Whelan.

Not really in my nature but I really do hope the Wigan lad gets snapped in two.

Some Twitter reaction from Gary Lineker:

    Gary Lineker ‏@GaryLineker

No retrospective action for McManaman following his horrific challenge as 1 official saw it. If he saw it, the official deserves ret action

    and

    Gary Lineker ‏@GaryLineker

The FA need to change their rules on retrospective action after failing to punish McManaman. Agree? Go to my #MO page http://www.millionopinion.com

So the FA says it will not ‘re-referee’ decisions. Yet it has the power to, and does, rescind red cards etc. What is that if not re-refereeing? What a load of Sweet FA :emoticon-0121-angry.

The FA is a weak, ineffectual and pointless organisation. I do not see what benefit it offers any interested party whether that be player, fan, Club or country. The fact it took so long to come to this decision should raise alarm bells in my opinion (not that the FA is known for being particularly decisive i.e. the Suarez/Evra affair). I also think it is odd that Whelan came out and spouted that pile of poo yesterday; you have to admit, it’s unusual for a Chairman to speak out in situations like this.

I am impressed with how our Club has dealt with this however, from the players on the pitch during the rest of the game, to the restrained and low profile the Club has kept in the last couple of days, to the sensible and measured comments from Llambias (now there’s a phrase I could never imagine putting in writing!<yikes>). At least Newcastle United can hold its head high. Unlike Whelan, Martinez, McManaman and the Sweet FA who should hang their heads in shame.

I feel somewhat sad that the good game is being overseen by such a group of buffoons, and people ready to condone the behaviour of the likes of McManaman and endorse the incompetence of the likes of Halsey. But the positive in all this is that it makes me love my Club and the players that play for it more than ever :emoticon-0115-inlov.

There is a reason for everything, I do believe that, it’s just that sometimes we don’t see what that reason is at the time. I’ve truly no idea whatsoever how this injury to Haidara or the FA’s decision today will come good, there is no scenario I can currently imagine where this becomes a positive. But the only way I can accept what has happened over the last couple of days is by believing that at some point in the future this will have some benefit.

    Howay the Lads.

Just when you think an issue is so clear that even the FA cannot mishandle it, they rise to the challenge with breathbreaking levels of contempt for decency.

    Stoke fan in peace
I posted this on our forum a few hours ago.

Sickening decision by the FA and rubs salt into the wounds of awful decision making against your team on Sunday

"So for one of the worst tackle I have ever seen Mcmanaman gets no ban. How can the FA hide behind the comment that at least one of the officials saw the coming together although not the extent of it. Nonsense if one of them only saw the coming together but not the extent of it then they did not see the incident. Thats like saying that the ref saw Huth come together with Sanderos, which he did, but not the extent of the forearm smash to the face, which he did not see, so therefore they could take no action. They rightly banned Huth on the back of the referee saying he did not see what really happened. The FA are a bunch of pathetic to**ers and this sends the worst type of message out to players and managers. I have nothing at all against Mcmanaman or Wigan and I am all for players getting banned for thuggery and that includes Stoke players who have rightly been banned retrospectively."

All good points, but you forget, these no marks change their views to coincide with the weather. If it was sunny he would have got a six game ban.

I suppose the really bad aspect of all this is that the lad has went unpunished by his club and the FA. He has previous and if he keeps going unpunished and even encouraged by his chairman, he is likely to keep doing it until he is punished.

Either that or he'll run into someone who decides enough is enough and he'll end up on the receiving end.

The FA had a chance to put it to bed. Regardless of their rules etc, only two people would have been miffed if he'd been banned for 6 games. Martinez and Whelan. One is senile and the other a hypocrite like most managers.

In recent FA history we've seen:
    Punching (Owen): No action
    Stamping (Ferdinand): No action
    Horror tackle (McManaman): No action
Kicking ballboy (Hazard): 3 game ban
Threatening referee (Mikel): 3 game ban
    Stamping (Balotelli): 4 game ban
    Namecalling (Terry): 4 game ban
    Namecalling (Suarez): 8 game ban

    A response from the ombudsman...

With regards your concerns about the decision of the FA to take no action in relation to the much discussed tackle in the above game. I recognise the strength of feeling you have displayed.
I have to inform you that on-field matters do not fall within the remit of the IFO. You will need to make your views known directly to the FA itself. This can be done via the website, www.theFA.com<http://www.thefa.com/> , or by post to the Wembley HQ.

This decision is totally appauling and leaves me both speechless and fuming at the same time. Surely this cannot be right ! Dreadful ruling by the FA, what a complete mockery. Hope the club takes this on and creates merry hell.

@Joey7Barton: This is what happens when you have 85 year old, county FA blokes, who have never kicked a ball in their lives, running the game. Not a clue!

@Joey7Barton: Think of the hours of rehab and gym work that the Newcastle boy is going to have to do. What example does that set?
