Think next year will be a better barometer on this and who he can bring in and are the signings more like the past summer? Or will they be like January?

Fair assessment althought slightly harsh on Sturridge who is struggling with some niggling injuries.

This summer is crucial IMO. It will be sign of intent of where we want to be/strive to be in the coming years. I don't expect us to go onto win the league as a result of our summer dealings - but I do expect us to strengthen our squad and mount a serious challenge for top 4.

Rodgers has had a year to assess the squad, time to build the recruitment team and ultimately scout the best players within our reach. Januarys dealings of Coutinho and Sturridge are encouraging signs and some of the names that have been spouted recently (De Vrij, Eriksen, Gameiro) gives me great optimism.

Coutinho and Sturridge have both made immediate impacts - whether they can sustain that level remains to be seen but they have both contributed to the team AND we look a much better team as a result. It's time we get lucky in the market now ...

Fair enough on most of the article other than the bit I copied above which is nonsense. If anything Sturridge has been better than expected, we all knew he had pace and liked to shoot but his link up play and choice of pass has shown an intelligence that nobody had expected.

Coutinho has only been there five mins and nobody knows how he will get on but the early signs are very good.

Honestly we move forwards... we move backwards... all in all we are worse off than when Rafa left... much better off than when Roy left... and a smudge below when Dalglish left...

Kenny's Kup runs offset Rodgers slightly better league form.

Rodgers first season hasn't been overly impressive but we have been better last few months because Rodgers was smart enough to realise that his ticky tocky footie was not working.

Now Rodgers sees what we've seen all year I expect next year to be better. Top 4 only if other teams screw up again like this year... but we will be close to them. Defence is a big question mark... as is when will Gerrard start his rapid decline... all the greats seem to have a season when you realise they are a shadow of themselves... hopefully Stevie has a couple good ones left.
