Sorry but why would Poyet be sacked??? Brighton have just tonked Palace and they still have a decent chance of going up through the play-offs. I wish I’d have had a tenner on Appleton going! At least Blackburn have shown him the same loyalty that he showed to Blackpool. I can’t believe that GFH would be worried about paying Warnock off. They would surely only have to pay off the rest of his contract which expires in May. What’s the difference between doing that any continuing to pay Warnock’s wages until then? It seems to make sense to everyone apart from GFH that Warnock should be shown the door now and Adkins installed straight away. That way he can run his eye over the current squad and start planning for next season. It might even make the last few games of the season vaguely interesting.
Afternoon gents . Agree with all jason says above..But got to say we aint got a hope in hell of getting Adkins as our next manager. Would like him to be but just cant see it happening thou
I can't see Adkins choosing Leeds over the likes of Reading/Leicester/Blackburn etc. Although stranger things have happened. I think it depends entirely on the ambitions and budgets that each Club would be willing to make available for him. IMHO, I reckon Paulo Di Canio would be far more suited to the Leeds United role. And besides, you might even end up with Sam Allardyce or Tony Pulis with the way it's turning out at West Spam and Stoke. Then you can have another couple of managers who play ugly and annoyingly successful styles of football.
I have to agree with Candy Man - Why would Adkins want to join us, look at the past several years, look at lack of current funds, we are not an attractive proposition for a young manager with ambition.
@BenJacobs "Interesting development on the next manager odds - Ian Dowie has gone from 100-1 this morning to 7/4 joint favourite with Nigel Adkins"
Lets try and look on the bright side. This summer will see a huge % of shares sold to a decent buyer, if not the whole thing, simply because Bates is no longer around. Everyone knows that the club is ripe for investment and being back in the big time, but nobody willing to get involved with Bates. GFH have done the unthinkable and taken him out and are only just managing to pick up the pieces of his time shafting the fans and filling his bank. Adkins is lined up to come in and will have a nice budget to get us promoted with. The new owner or big shareholder will ensure enough cash is pumped in. The crowds will be back and we'll be unstoppable. Either that or we're fooked agin and struggle to stay in the championship.
Based on what exactly? I am not looking for a fight here, look at it from an investors point of view, they will look at gate receipts and see they are dropping. They will see 7k season ticket sales need to be sold to pay a loan, they will see a club stripped of the majority of the up and coming home grown talent. They will see a squad that finished mid table, ageing and worthless.
The tangible aspects of the current club suck, to be sure, other than the Elland Road buyback option, perhaps. The value is in the intangibles - the brand and worldwide fan base.
