Couldn't disagree more mate. Me and everyone I knew was up in arms when McM came here. You did get it right about his success being based on hiring old end of days players. Couldn't agree more mate.
Pardon me but I have not seen Mon on the pitch recently in red and white stripes. The players have turned in some gutless performances recently and I do not think MON is in there telling them not to compete. I just think it is too easy for the players, if we go down they can move on and pick up the wages somewhere else. It is 95% players and 5%manager for me.
Any manager who has had to completely get rid of historical ineptitude has taken time for their ideas to be accepted and developed. MON is no different. Moyesâ second season was a stinker (no different to ours now) at Everton as was Fergusonâs third 89/90 at United: âIn September, United suffered a humiliating 5â1 away defeat against fierce rivals Manchester City. Following this and an early season run of six defeats and two draws in eight games, a banner declaring "Three years of excuses and it's still crap ... ta-ra Fergie." was displayed at Old Trafford, and many journalists and supporters called for Ferguson to be sacked⦠United ended the decade just outside the relegation zoneâ (From Wiki) Changing managers this soon into their tenure does no good. Having faith in them is important when the dark times are upon us, not just switching (for who by the way?). As I see it we have no alternative in any case.
I keep seeing everybody pointing at SAF and Moyes but that doesn't mean giving managers time is guaranteed success. For every Moyes or Ferguson, they will be a **** load of failures. It hasn't worked for MON, he is **** in the transfer market, doesn't seem to be able to motivate the team and his tactics are just awful. This is not the man I want to take us forward.
Always does mak - if I wasn't doing my job it;d be me that got sacked not my boss!! He has to take a lot of responsibility in this as well though - the players he let go (Campbell and Wickham for the loan deal) were probably better than the ONE player he brought in (DG). Adam Johnson hasn't set the world alight either even with his assists and goals - he simply hasn't LOOKED like the player we all thought we'd signed! Manager is the one who always pays - if he goes - who do we bring in to replace him in the short term? Bally?? Why not? He certainly wouldn't take the lack of drive from the team - but IF we do get rid of O'Neill, we have to ensure we build for the future of OUR club. We don;t want to turn into a manager a season club as we have been in the past. If we stay up and O'Neill stays, (Hate having to say "If we stay up") then he has to build the club and take us forward. Or, strictly speaking, My arse is fermly perched on the fence!!
