Should have been sent off. Wigan scored a 90th minute winner with a handball above the head in the run up to the goal.

I fully expect MITO to have a rant at Wigan's potential survival. <laugh>

SKY: Newcastle's medical people have to wait for Haidara to be able to STRAIGHTEN HIS LEG before assessing the damage. Jesus.

Think someone said tron thigh muscle plus another injury... Here's a .gif

Also, no foul of course. That was horrible to see.

I'm amazed he's still standing. Guy must drink 20 litres of milk each day to have legs that strong.

His leg would have smashed into 500 pieces if he drank that much milk:)

I was under the impression that milk had a fair bit of calcium which was kinda important for bone strength...

Willing to learn something new though if you know otherwise?

Plenty of calcium, you are right there and too much gives you brittle bones<ok> A balanced amount makes them flexible to a degree.

Also, believe it or not, the most pressure\stress the bones put up with is from your own muscles contracting.

P.S. the older you get the less calcium you need, I rarely if ever drink milk now, I eat enough cheese:) But my bones are all but fused at this point:)

henrik larsson, his leg just snapped if I remember correctly. Pressure from his own muscles, can't be certain but it did just snap, no fracture prior to it snapping I think?

Newcastle fan here - We had this a couple of years back with Ben Arfa and he was out for 6 months and he's been injury prone ever since. On both occassions the player making the challenge was not booked, indeed we didn't even get a free kick, and we go on to lose a tight game (via a handball for Wigans winner i may add).

I just can't help but feel that if this had happened to an England international or player for a top four club it would be the headline banner on all the sports news stories rather than an after-thought. The fact Haidara was only on the pitch because Debuchy had gone off injured 10 minutes earlier doesn't help either...

Dwight Yorke has said that Callum Mcmanaman's tackle on Massadio Haidara was "life threatening"

Maybe somebody should remind Dwight his Disabled son is in the full time care of Katie Price

Wasn't it by De Jong? Who also did the same later that season to Stuart Holden, no booking as well? With the crap yellows for nothing, how are these not even fouls?

    forgettingfollowthroughmuch:)

if I remember correctly Ben Thatcher won the ball before he smashed unconscious Pedro Mendez.

If that kind of thing is let go and becomes the norm the physio tables will be full as well as the specialist clinics and there will be a pundit overload within 5 years. MOTD with 20 pundits.

You can;t go in any way you like cos you may or may not get the ball FFS.

If Calum gets done like this next week and it finishes his career I am sure he would hold no grudge if it was not intended. Yeah fkn right. Martinez would be the first out there spouting douchery about it being a disgraceful tackle meant or not.

one of the most cowardly tackles I've seen for a while, the other player is just standing there getting clocked!

Kompany got sent off for not even touching kagawa as well as many other red cards for stuff that might have happend, Joe Cole v Arsenal for a clearing blocking lunge which was not even at the arsenal player and this **** walks for that?!

Haidara could have gone in on Macca the same but he wasn't a coward<ok>

I think though if you do that to a player you call attention on immediately, when you know you've done him proper and hurt him, McManaman just plays on as if nothing happened so because of that I really hope he gets a taste of his own medicine before the season ends

I agree with most of your points, but this one I disagree a little. He handballed it intentionally immediately afterwards, I think mainly to sop play in my mind. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, and say he wanted Heidara to get treatment so did what he could to stop play. Still, he shouldn't be playing for at least half of the remaining season, if they're being extremely nice.

Did you see Whelans comments? The bit that annoyed me most wasn't even his comments about the tackle (which were idiotic) but his comment "We hope the lad is fit to play next week or maybe in a fortnight". What? Does he really mean that, is he totally thick? Its stupid enough to sound a bit like he's taking the piss.
