That was a decent interview. Good to see he is doing something to help others - well done Troy!

I know that not everyone felt that he should be given a second chance. I thought he should, but if he didn't make the most of it then it was time for him to go. It looks from the interview that he has sorted himself out, so maybe the short sharp shock has done it's work. Keep it up, he looks a far better player since his return.

I think his punishment was fair and everybody deserves to get a second chance. It is a good interview and shows what appears to be an honest sensible and caring family man - what a difference a year is in his life.

A good interview, seems he made a big mistake, he paid for it, and now he's trying to learn from it and make life for the better. Good for him. But I've heard this before from people and they then get into more trouble. Troy will know actions speak louder than words in that respect. Best of luck to him.

Having a young son who he didn't see for 2 months or so probably helps - clearly missed the little one.

Afterall it would be very foolish for Troy to get into trouble again so quickly because it wouldn't just be us not giving him a 3rd chance but also his wife...

It does concern me that in this interview, and others, Deeney has not once mentioned (let alone apologised to) his victim.

How many times does he have to do that vic? He apologised in a statement before he left prison and did it again after he was released. He keeps admitting he was stupid in what he did - shall we have him wear a hair shirt? He did a prison sentence - he has moved on - shall we? I suspect his victim has as his injuries were not permanent ones and he himself was not toatlly innocent as he was already in the fight when Deeney joined it

It's a good interview..and yes, time will tell if the change is permanent but he does seem to want to make the best of himself...i'm glad he's decided to stay :)

OK, I hold my hands up and say that I must have missed those apologies. In that case then all credit to Deeney and the very best of luck to him in the future.

I must say that the mental picture of Deeney wearing a yellow hair shirt when bearing down on the opposition defence is one to relish.......

He does seem to have learnt his lesson.
Shame other 'young' men in the game can't or won't do the same.
The lad whpo has just been released by Newcastle for instance.
I believe in his time at Newcastle, he had more arrests than he did goals for them.
    Too much too soon?

Good luck to the lad - he did his time without complaining and has now grabbed the second chance both gratefully and gleefully. Maybe sometimes a wake up call like that really does work.
