FFS, 'udders next, the game's on Sky, they've just beaten Leeds at Elland Road, make no mistake they're capable of a result against us, and are fighting to stay in the division. Is it too much to hope for that Palace & Watford who play, both at home, the previous day both feck up? Oh, and I'm putting money NOW on Brighton beating Forest on the 30th, just like I backed them today against Palace, they, for me anyway, were NEVER gonna lose that game today, and they now have Leicester in their sights and the bit between their teeth. Bye Nigel
DON'T PANIC MR MAINWARING! Got to remember, we also beat Leeds at Elland Road. I think we can beat Huddersfield, as to be fair, we are an infinitely better team than TWS this year. They're fighting to stay in this division and we're fighting to go up, it should be a cracking game. The one I'd be more worried about is Barnsley away 2nd to last day; they're in fine form at the moment.
Not panicking but admittedly as twitchy as ****, and yes Barnsley will be tough, Leicester play them Easter Monday and I really don't see them getting anything there!
Thing could all change by the time we play Barnsley, Bristol, Cardiff ect, one i would think will have gained promotion, will the others be fighting relegation or will they be safe? I think the way way we have to look at it is that there is 8 games left if we can win four then the others have to win 5 or get a few draws on top of wins, obviously the more we win then its harder for the others but i think a minimum of 4 wins will give us a chance. the Easter period is very important because we have 3 games in a week after which time we will have a much better idea. All i can say is get behind the lads as much as you can, try and get to as many matches as possible and encourage as many friends, mams, sisters, brothers, dads, neighbours ect ect because the team are going to need as much help as possible
I dont know why anyone is 'twitchy as ****'. From memory Id say this is the best position we have ever been in in our history when chasing promtion from this division. If we dont get automatic - so what? We'll make the play-offs at this level for the second time ever. And if we get beat - so what? We'll still be here next season with a much better team than started this season. We've lost our 2 best strikers for a combined 18 months this season and we're STILL second. I got 'twitcy as ****' when Mark Hately guided us to *7 points adrfit at the bottom of the entire league. * or whatever it was.
Puts our improvements in the last decade in to perspective I suppose! If it doesn't happen this year, it will be a case of what could have been! It's still in our own hands though and all to play for
My ony worry is if we dont get promoted and Aluko has a barnstorming start to the season he can speak to anyone else come January 1st and as we cant guarantee Premier League football he's of that age when he'll no doubt want it....
For me Chester has been a shadow of his previous seasons and is nowhere near PL standard on current form. He has often been the weak link at the back and all fit I'd be tempted by Faye, Hobbs and McShane. I know people will be amazed by this and he has been extraordinary in the past but he cant get by on what he did in previous seasons.
More or less any team in the championship can beat each other, so there are no easy games, look at Peterborough and Barnsley beating us. However we have a good enough side to beat anyone in the division, we just need to get the same level of performance as against Forest, Birmingham and Blackburn at home, and we will win most games.
Why does everyone just say that about the Championship? It applies to the PL and every other English league too. It's not like in Spain is there really a case where two teams are so far ahead of everyone else that they win comfortably almost every week.
Initially I was going to explain my 'twitchy as ****' temperament but before I did I read the other posts after the one above and thought, **** it, they've saved me the bother! However I will add that anyone that has supported City for a long time, and yes - not that it matters - I was there during, AND a long time prior to, Mark Hately's 'reign', that isn't twitchy right now should seriously take up poker, either that or they're dead from the neck up! We are in a great position, of that there is no doubt, but our owners have also committed a lot of money to this campaign, money which won't neccessarily be there again if we're still in the Championship next season, as is the situation with the funding you could also say the same about the likes of Aluko, Chester, Gedo, Elmo, and even Steve Bruce himself!
