There is still 24 points to play for so its not over yet. Last week we were the only team that won in the bottom half and closed it to 4 points. This week we lost and all other results went the other way. Cesar had a nightmare, but we played well in the first half and could have had 3 or 4 with some luck. Even the Reading game didn't go to plan, who if they had lost by 1 more goal we would have been 19th. There will be more twist and turns. If we can play as we have been, and the defence and goalie tighten up again, we can get some more wins. I believe we need 6 wins out of 8 , or 5 wins and 2 draws. The team is good enough if they believe. Is it likely, probably not. Is it possible, yes. Stranger things have happened.
I don't think we need as many as 6 wins, which would put us on 41 points (nice as that would be). 4 wins and a couple of draws could well be enough. (37 points).
To reach 38 points requires 5 wins, Fulham, Wigan, Stoke, Reading and Newcastle. A possible draw against Arsenal. Everton are a draw possibility and Liverpool, if they are out of the Euro reckoning, may be our Hail Mary. The next two games will define it for us...
I really think we should just try to enjoy the last few games of the season;,there's not a lot we can do about it anyway and whatever is going to happen, is gonna do just that. We can screw ourselves up into helter-skelters but we're only going to wring out our nerves even more than we have done already. If we survive, and I certainly haven't given up hope, it will be the most euphoric feeling I've ever experienced. If we go down, I'll look forward only. QPR goes forward only no matter what league we're in.
So it is still theoretically possible for us to more than double our points total for the season - 47 pts anyone?
I agree we will need 6 wins to be pretty sure of staying up, 40 points anyway. 38 points as a survival target looks doubtful now to me. But 6 wins or 5 and 2 draws is doable if we play at our best, and have a lot more luck than we had yesterday.
Yes!!!!!!! It is entertainment, not life or death. Whatever happens, happens. Still gonna support the team wherever we end up.
Proper perspective. The thing is, after the last 3 games, I think we are capable of winning all 8, which I would not have said a few weeks ago. We are, or course, also capable of losing all 8, but hey ho, lets have some fun and shout ourselves hoarse.
I have only caught MOTD but seriously apart from Chelsea this weekend we could currently give anyone a game IMO Form is OK lets hope we pick that up on BHM against Fulham and win
Too right. Yet that is both the joy / hope and also the frustration. Would not surprise me to see Green in goal next game. I know there are many Cesar lovers but about yesterday, you do just have to wonder...?
