Halsey says he didn't see it, but watching the replays on Sky I don't know how he missed it. Okay, so Cisse is in the way when the challenge was initially made. But he is running past and would have been obstructing for a split second. When Cisse passes, you could still see McManaman's foot through his leg and the player was in the air screaming in agony. Pathetic excuse of 'I didn't see it'.
He should be stood down for the remainder of the season. He missed virtually everything all afternoon.
Like I say, he should be out for at least as long as Haidara is out. There's no need for such challenges. I'd be sick if one of ours had done that!
He might not of seen it , but the 4th official can review a replay on the touchline it has happened before when a ref misses something important as this the lad was down long enough for the 4th oifficial to review the video 20 times and pass comments to the ref via the headphones that they all wear 'I didn't see it' is a copout
Ok, well can we get a public report of his assessment when he views it on video? I actually think this is a serious point. We have to accept his excuse of "didn't see it", so surely it's vitally important for communicating the rules and conduct of the game to hear his view of it retrospectively? Let's hear him explain why was it a bad challenge and why he would have taken alternative action. Players can then take note, managers understand and young kids learning the game (including McManaman) can learn from it. Perhaps he'd come out and say it was absolutely fine, he got it right to ignore and we'd all know where we stand (with broken knees). But no, let's instead enjoy an FA firewall of blissful silence...
By saying he didn't see it allows the FA to take action doesn't it? If he said he saw it and didn't take action does that not mean the FA then can not act?
Just back from the match so I have not seen any of the tv replays or analysis but have seen the little clip of the tackle itself. So, for now, I will accept the idiot of a referee couldn't see it because someone was in the way. That doesn't explain why one of the two linesman didn't see it. Three main officials at different positions and different angles and not one of them can see the potentially leg breaking tackle. If that is the official line then all three of them should collectively be stood down for the rest of the season to show that such a total display of ineptness cannot be tolerated from so called professionals. Seriously bad display from the officials all through the game. PS At the time I thought it was a bad tackle and a foul but was too far away to see just how bad at the time. The useless trio were much closer and should between them have seen it.
I think Halsey and Foy in our match with Sunderland were vying it out for "****test ref of the day" Both had complete mares'!
Robbie Savage has got a column on the BBC football page, what an absolute prized bell end that bloke is. Banging on about once a player commits to a tackle its a point of no return...similar to a plane taking off ! Give your ****ing head a wobble ! I understand that at a certain point a player who dives into a challenge cannot undive into it...that's just simple ****ing physics, but up until the point of making contact with the ball and/or an opposing player it is possible to withdraw your foot away from making contact...we've seen it many times before, particularly in the penalty areas with players lunging in and pulling out at the last minute...only to see Suaraez diving anyways...I digress ! Not to mention the fact that his foot wasn't just off the ground, nor was it shin height.....its was knee height and Haidara's a canny tall chap so his foot was a fair way off the ground. As soon as you make a decision to go into a challenge with your foot that high you should expect trouble at the end of it, whether that be a red card, a smack in the face from John Carver or both. Sadly none of those were forthcoming on this occasion so we're just gonna have to hope that the FA decide to take some action. Quite why in this day and age we cannot allow the 4th Official to review video footage on the touchline is quite beyond me. How many TV replays did we see in the time that he was down ? Is there not a big clue in the fact that a player has had to be stretchered off following a challenge that something needs reviewing ? I'm not saying review every bloody challenge, but surely when it results in someone having a kneecap relocated then it warrants a 30 second review whilst treatment is being given. Maybe we should look at introducing some sort of challenge system similar to what they've done for tennis with hawkeye, and allow managers 1 or 2 challenges per half or per game. Lets not get away from the fact that some of players didn't show up today, but I've got no doubt the outcome of the game would have been considerably different had they played more than half the game with 10 men. My piss is boiling !!
That's what i mean, by "not seeing it" he's allowing the authorities to deal with it. What annoys me with this situation is we were the team to suffer from this incident but any suspension will benefit teams they are playing in coming games not us. Apart from the horror tackle he was probably their spark player
It is difficult to give the exact view that Halsey had so if he says he missed it then what can you do. Its better he did so that McManaman can be correctly dealt with. If that is just a 3 game ban then the FA panel want shot with ****.
The last thing he's going to see is the soil falling off my shovel if I get my hands on him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
