    4pm Carlisle

    Mister Philson 13/2

Dickie rides for the Crawfords in a fairly unusual move but one I find highly eye catching. Mister Philson is currently the outsider of 7 in a tight handicap chase but off bottom weight on handicap debut I really can't see him running anything other than extremely well.

Very active in the realm of point to points, this horse has run poorly last time out, which is a concern but if you go back through some of his form he was competing against horses now rated 130. He'll have to jump well but that's always the case in these races.

Morning guys, very much a case of after the Lord Mayors Show with a very poor shoiwng today, however, there are a couple that take my eye today .

In the 3.30 Carlisle - MITCHELLS WAY 3/1 returns to the track that holds his best form, LTO he won a Hands & Heels Hurdle and is upped 7lb today the young claimer on board takes that 7lb off and he should go close.

4.00 Carlisle VAMIZI 11/2 another who saves his best for a course where generally C&D form is a massive plus. On recent form he doesnt seem to be in the running, however, he drops another 3lb for his last run and based on his last win which was at Carlisle approximately i year to the day and he is only 1lb worse off and looks to have been laid our for this race.

4.30 Carlisle UPSWING 1/1 has looked to be progressing nicely in his last couple of runs, this race wont take much winning and he looks to be well treated for his first run in Handicap Company.

4.45 Lingfield SAND GROUSE 7/4 looks to be too good for what is on show here and is taken to bring up my Lucky 15.

Good luck today uys and Happy St Patricks Day to our Irish brethern.

    Morning all,

A couple of small e/w interests for today.

3.45 ling. RAVENS TOWER is 7 lb better off today with Silver Dixie but at 20/1 must be worth a small interest. I think the Johnston horse will improve like most of his horses do after a run and will enjoy the step up in distance. His only runner on the card today and ridden by J Fanning.

J Fanning's only other ride is BENANDONNER in the 4.15. Slipping down the ratings but another one I like for small stakes. Currently 16/1

Finally I will plump for Danziger to get back to winning ways in the 3.15 Ling and Kealigolane in the 3.00 Car.

    Good luck

Unsurprisingly the races at Carlisle have cut up with the heavy ground, but I still like one in the 3.00 where Timmy Murphy gets the leg up on Upsilon Bleu who looks a fair recruit to the Pauline Robson yard. He has already made over 75 grand for old connections with wins over hurdles and fences and I think they can make a winning start with him over here in the UK. 10/3 is a fair price in a small field.

morning all- Grey Gold in the 300 Car, must have a great chance, stable had a double yesterday, likewise Sand Grouse in the 16 45 at Ling seems to have obvious claims. For a chance bet however i shall be backing Chris Grants Lysino in the opener at Carlisle, was not given a hard race last time, will like the ground, and at 25/1 represents value. Good luck

Off out on the green beer soon with some mates...when in Rome.

Interesting article in The Times about the latest dilution of the GN.

Are you going to be getting stuck into the early-season 2YO races again this season Nass? I remember you had some very nice winners last year. I might have to start reading your blog more regularly <ok>

Probably not, honestly I don't think I will have the time and I am still concentrating on the jumps at the minute. Stick texted me earlier saying "When are you going to ask". He loves trying to work out the Brocklesby!! I fortunately have a freebet in the first race on C4 next week, am I right in thinking it will be the six furlong sprint?

Wwasn't going to bother punting today but am going to have a few quid on Dangan Daylight in the 4.25 at Limerick

Lovely big backward mare (we've all been there guy's..) who found the trip too short LTO but had previously ran the favourite for this race close and is now weighted to turn the form around.I think the step up in trip will help today and this mare is lightly raced and open to plenty of improvement.I'd love to see here set off infront but tactics are fluid.

At 5/1 I thank she's a safe bet to nothing and with the dead 8 runners plan to cover stakes e/w

    GL all.

Brocklesby is Friday, I was talking about the handicap on the Saturday for older horses. If that is the first C4 race, I might as well pick the prettiest silks to back with the free bet.

Step up in trip should suit Dex, ive put her up at 5/1 aswell, thought she was an absolute certainty last time, expect better today, lovely mare.

oh and, Mark Enright claiming 3 for Ogrady, 8/1 <laugh>

    <cracker>

Well shes a point winner on heavy ground, the slight drop back was the only worry last time although she was still very disappointing, she should have won despite it on form but thats Irish jump racing. If the form of that previous run was worth anything at all, she wins today at these weights at this trip.

Form useless again, 5 1/2 in front of Charlies Vic, same weights today, was another 7 lengths back to Avondhu Lady who was worse at the weights today.

At least you went e/w <ok>

done very short in running too.

Went e/w Eddie because I'm always wary of fiddling f*ckers in these races...especially mares..perhaps the winner was in season lto?

As you said, she had no chance on the book but no surprise despite Dangan Daylight being heavily punted.
