Last chance to watch Saints on MOTD live [well 2 hours in arrears] tonight, if you go now. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/tv/bbc_one_london/watchlive
Well that was fun, wasn't it? Lets say we all go for it again in just under a fortnight? Yeah, sure. I'm claiming an assist with my match thread.
On another note, we're now 8 games into the Pochettino era. He has 9 points so far. That's more than the said point per game needed to survive! Happy days. Really like him as a manager. Hard to explain, but he has something about him.
Extended highlights up on Player...must say I always thought they couldn't put highlights up until Sunday evening (something to do with TV rights), but must be wrong. Good to watch again in more detail. Rodriguez really looked lively and could have had three...deserved the luck of the rebound for his goal because of all the work he put in. For Lambert's goal, a Saints player moved across the back of the Liverpool wall just as the gap appeared for the shot...no one has mentioned it, but could he have had a tug or acted as a distraction? Contrary to what some have been saying, Ramirez was involved a lot and looked very disappointed to come off. Lallana had one of his better games, but missed chances...probably not fully sharp or perhaps just needs a lucky goal to get himself going again. Commentators made a big issue of Liverpool getting passed Guly for their last real shot of the game...the word disgrace was used and they said Mauricio was going mad.
Couldn't sleep last night, so flicked through the match thread on a Liverpool forum....was fun. Luckily the swear filter works on their forum!! Some were deluded before the match (but then we are sometimes deluded and probably with less reason), no one gave the score...there were just dozens of posts saying **** *******. There were some insights with one poster warning that Liverpool would have to put someone on Luke Shaw because a lot of play goes through him. Saints are playing with 10 midfielders was another cry. One promised Pool would score soon....you have to get the ****** ball first was the reply. They really criticised Rodgers and his tactics (does not appear to be loved). A poster pointed out that when Pool did start to get into the game briefly, Mauricio subbed Davis for Ramirez and corrected it, whereas Brendan did nothing.
Yep agree just watched them this morning, Saints were brilliant and Ramirez touched the ball twice (in the highlights) Haven't seen the football first version so can't comment on the full re-run. Interesting that Shearer commented about Saints putting pressure on the opposition and mentions Lambert, Lallanna and Rodriguez not Ramirez as well. So stand by my original view - which also includes being a Ramirez fan in general - just outshone by the others yesterday - can't be good every week.
Ramirez played some good balls before going off just needs to get used to the pace of the league, will see more from him next year. Davis coming on was the right move at the time.
I still maintain that Gaston had a good game, and a very good first half in particular. But I'm also certain that replacing him with Davis was the right call. With Lucas replacing Allen, Liverpool were finally getting hold of the ball for the first time.
Well, it was simple really; Buruc had his best game for us, his handling was superb, there were a number of shots that he could have spilled but he held on to them. Clyne also had his best game. Lallana easily had his best game since his injury. Arguably, Rodriguez, Cork and others also had their best games. We have good players and when they play to their maximum ability we can obviously beat anyone. Liverpool were poor, but they were an in-form team that we didn't allow to get any momentum. The challenge for us is to maintain this high level of performance against teams that we should be beating.
No they don't. They just look at the pictures for they can't read. EDITED: I have just noticed Beddy's comment after having written this.
