Colin: Going anyway, but has shown himself to be a football dinosaur with his activity in the player market, and tactics. To Stay: Byram: The only real quality player we have. Lees: Good and only going to get better. EHJ: An old head that can slow a game down. White: Must have **** in Colins slippers not to playing regularly, and always puts a shift in when he gets on the pitch. To go: Kenny: Average keeper at best, only popular because we can sing about vodka and Charlie. Brown: Slow and dirty (not in a good way) Norris, Pearce, both identikit players who never shiine Varney, What a croc of ****, never works, not interested, no talent, contributes less than nothing to the team. Somma. Just a waste of the player budget. Hall, if he cannot get in this team he must be crap. McCormack: lightweight and if someone will pay £2mill we should take the money and run. The rest are only ever going to be championship players at best.
You know something funny chipper, the way we do things, I'd say your four to stay will most likely be sold and most of the remainder kept
McCormack is quality but is too skillfull for Warnock to know what to do with him. A decent manager will get the best out of him.
Too pretty for this league of hard working but mediocre players. Wont be given the time on the ball he needs in the championnship. Probably needs premiership football where there is less kick and rush.
Your saying get rid of our mediocre championship players but then say get rid of McCormack because he is better and suits prem football.... Im not being funny but you need to see McCormack is by far our best player. Even when not scoring he is still better than anyone else in that team, he needs someone to provide for him which he doesn't have, he's turned into the provider but no one can finish anything
He is hardly prolofic in front of goal. As regards our best player Byram is the only one apart from EHJ who has the skill to but himself time and space.
Chippie, I think the most important factor is the new manager, and what he can get out of players. If we're going to play a passing game with variable tactics, then you've got to take a fresh look at the squad - and McCormack in particular. Give him service and he will score. Play him on the right wing and he will provide, as he has been doing marvellously. Personally, I prefer him as a goalscorer, and he's definitely worth keeping. So is EHD, Byram, Lees & Warnock - no argument there. As for Paddy, I'd definitely keep him. Probably our best keeper since Sully, and can't imagine we'll be able to afford better. He's saved us umpteen points this season (cost us a couple too, admittedly, but these things happen). White? Rhymes with shyte. And he is. Might make it as a left back one day, but we can't afford to wait. Midfield? Forget it. Can't hack it. Can't pass, head, dribble, or more importantly cross. Why on earth would we want to keep him, other than as a dodgy backup LB? Don't give me that pace nonsense, btw. What's it ever done for us? I like Brown, but you're probably right to let him go. No argument about the others I haven't mentioned either, except perhaps Pearce. Think he can do a job for us, but I don't think he's the leader we perhaps thought he was. I also think that we shouldn't let Varney go without torturing him first. After all, I've paid to get tortured by him all season. It's only fair. You never mentioned good old Rodolph. I think he'll have a great season next year. Always difficult joining a big club like Leeds at the best of times without having already put in a season elsewhere without a rest, and a big injury to boot. Presently he spends most of his time watching the ball soaring over his head. With a passing game, he might be quite a revalation! Finally Morison? Jury's still out, I think on that one. Who knows ....
I like McCormack but hes deffo a confidence player. A luxury when on form but some what of a waste when its not working for him. Am I the only one that also rates Norris?
What are you rating Norris as, it cannot be a player. I did omit Austin in my assessment as he got injured just as he was starting to produce, and I think given a pre-seaon he might be our midfield general.
Austin is a another interesting one. I hope your right, he's quicker than he looks as well. Sometimes he looks uncomfortable with a simple pass though! I also think when we are playing with natural wingers we will see the best out of Austin. What do you think of Green? Worth a shot in the centre? He's looked a bit off it the last few games as well.
I rate Norris does a lot of running n doesn't give the opposition time on the ball think he needs a better manager to show what he's made of
Now that we're in a 'nothing to lose position' we might as well throw some of the youth in. Especially in the centre of the park. Throw Mowatt, Lenighan and Dawson into the first team and see what they can do. Norris goes missing for me in too many games. An average player, but nothing more.
It's okay saying who can go and who should stay, the problem is who would take many of these off our hands? Last season we finished mid table, I said back then sell the whole lot and replace all of them for all I care, we virtually did and it is same again... To be honest none of them are irreplaceable, even Byram will have his price. Personally White would be the first I would cash in on, closely followed by McCormack, they would both command a fee of some kind. I would be happy to sell any two of Norris, Green, Austin and Tonge and release/sell Brown and Varney. I wouldn't mind us keeping Kenny, Byram, Lees, Pearce, Warnock, Peltier - We can't keep expecting a new squad to gel so let's keep the back 5+1 Diouf if we could sell him fine, he did okay this season and when needs must we signed him, now we need to give Poleon a chance and bring in two new strikers to partner Morrison.
I rate Norris far higher than either Green, who's a trier but very limited, and Austin, who's an awful player, gets stuck in but no control whatsoever and his distribution's terrible - makes Vinnie Jones look like Iniesta. Keep Byram, Warnock, Norris, McCormack, Thompson, Poleon, and the rest of the development squad. I'd also give Somma a couple more months to try and finally overcome his injury problems as I think him and McCormack would work well together. The rest can **** off, they're either not good enough or too old
No matter who we get in as manager they will have one hell of a job getting rid of some of the players we have on our books and thats where the problem could lie.
Lets get real. If we want to improve on the players you're all proposing should go, it will take money and loads of it. You will not get quality as freebies, loanees or by paying average championship wages. Until we get some serious financial clout from somewhere, our team will be basically the same every season.a whole bunch of players that we really don't want but unfortunately no one else will either
But lets do the maths. Harvey says we are into £3mill of debt for the East stand folly. Just looking as yesterdays attendances in the championship even if we knock off 7000 saeson tickets to cover the debt then we still have higher than average gate receipts coming in, not to mention all the merchandise and consumables we knock out. The really strange thing is that Bates was able to secure the debt for the east stand against season ticket sales, the clubs auditors and accountants should have ensured that such borrowing could only be secured againnst earnings of the new boxes.
No one would have put up any loan based on only earnings from executive boxes. I doubt if there were many queuing up to loan bates money anyway
