Pards is quoted today as saying he doesn't regret letting Ba go now that Cisse is on form.
On reflection where do you stand on this...... you you regret letting him go.... or on reflection was it for the best?

I've voted for No as I think we have become more of a team without him.
Pards doesn't have to ensure he is happy anymore and I really think the shape of the team reflects.
It's also nice to see Cisse looking more like his old self...

I do because if nothing else he is a proven goalscorer and gives us another option.

I can't really see it as a case of us letting him go, we didn't really have any say in it. Would I rather have him right now? Of course but I think it was going to prove difficult to keep them both happy.

It reminds of the season cole was sold
The team seemed to gel better and the
Overall team played better, we seemed a tad light upfront with only kitson and pedro
But then we went to buy sir les, so if we sign a player like him in the summer then happy days.

Still would have him till the summer as I still feel we are at risk of missing some crucial chances and against top
Teams we could get nailed for it

My only regret is only getting £7,000,000 for him.

Difficult one but I'm going for no. He's a great goalscorer but think for Cissse and team think it was best he moved on.

    I've voted no.

I regret that we have lost an excellent goalscorer and good player, however this is outweighed by a number of issues.

Firstly, the fact that he was always looking for his next big transfer/payday was likely damaging team morale. Towards the end of his time with us he had also turned quite selfish in his play, opting for unlikely longshots etc rather than a pass with some regularity. Also his always being played through the center was limiting Cisse. Most importantly though, would we have signed Sissoko etc if we had not sold Ba? I'm not sure we would have, and I'd much rather have the new guys wearing black and white than Demba, good though he was.

I would have loved to have kept him, the trouble being that Pardew insisted on playing them both at the same time with only one up front. <doh>

If Pardew had rotated them like Benitez does with Torres & Ba, it would have been perfect.

It actually weakened the team playing a central striker on the wing - for this reason i'm glad he's gone.

Besides, Ba's heart was never in the Toon, it was wherever he could get the biggest pay-day. <ok>

We've all done well out of it.

Blimey, this is news to me. Did we have any choice in it then? :D

I'm confident that if the club had been able to keep him, it would.

I don't understand the theory that Cisse is better for the team? He is just as selfish as Ba was, only a lot less prolific. Was I the only one annoyed by the constant shooting from ridiculous positions, taking that chance off Perch's foot and being constantly off-side? Cisse has offered absolutely nothing to the team really, except a bit more running around (woohoo). He's a much worse target man and he doesn't even take the defenders with him on runs (because he's invariably offside).

Ba had an unreal conversion rate, one of the best in the league, with a less productive midfield behind him. He's a different class to Cisse, and if we'd been able to sell Papiss instead, doing that would have been 100% the right decision.

Ba was more prolific, but the team wasn't getting results. We tried to play balls to him constantly, in a system in which Cisse was anonymous. If you watch today's game again, Cisse made our goal and play several brilliant 1 touch passes. Cisse is better in our current style and formation which is getting results and taking us forward. We've been unlucky against Swansea and Wigan and should have lost neither.

Regardless of whether or not we wanted to let him go, he didn't want to stay, and anyone who wants to leave can **** off. We don't want anyone who doesn't want to be here.

Cisse's been anonymous in all our recent games, even the ones he's scored in... His pass to Santon was good, but it was hardly set on a plate for the lad. Cisse generally doesn't offer assists either.

He comes wide, tracks back on occasion (rarely with success) and generally poses little threat to the defenders. He doesn't usually score from crosses unless it sits up for a volley, and while he does some nice passing in our own half, in the final third he's a lot less effective than Ba ever was. Ba's hold up play and touch is way better than Cisse's and allowed for better link-up (can you imagine Ba and Sissoko? #DTgasm) and if we had him in the team now I reckon we'd be a few points to the good and playing much better in all honesty.

In hypothetical land, I'd have him all day long. And Michu <smooch>

I voted no. If a player wants to leave, get them out, they'd be more trouble by trying to keep them - ie Odemwhingie

Anyhow, we had no option in the Ba situation.
