I know some fans don't want him to put on a Q.P.R. shirt ever again, but are we missing the good side of Barton? He might not be a great footballer, but he would have been a leader in the team, something which I think we have lacked this season. We've obviously not missed his bad side.
Que? Are you suggesting that Barton is the missing link between man and ape? You know, the one before Neanderthal? Leader in the team? I seem to recall getting hammered regularly last season while he was captain. Perhaps you meant the fact that he rises for the big occasion? After all they don't come bigger than the final game of the season at The Etihad where he showed all the qualities of leadership anyone would ever desire in a footballer. Or did he simply show that is "THE MISSING LINK"?
I said this earlier in the season and got a roasting for it I stand by what I said and agree with you, at times when things were not going well he would have got stuck in and tried to make things happen unlike a lot of the team this season. Love him or hate him what he is good at is coming out fighting when the chips are down and that's what we have missed.
Since when did you agree with Barton being good for the team ? i distinctly remember you, amongst others 74, coat me off for saying Barton is good for the team..
Barton has a missing link to his brain But with Barton rather than Park on the field for 90mins we would of been safe already
Find it and you'll have an apology. You're wrong. Many occasions I have said I think he could do good for us and also tried to put some context around understanding his actions against City.
Really not sure that Barton can be crowbarred into a suggested solution to our failings. There are hundreds of other things can come before the lack of Barton in a list of what's gone wrong this season. It's only due to his infamy and ability to run his mouth that the guy gets any mention whatsoever, as really he's completely irrelevant. Why not say that a fit uninjured Faurlin would have been the missing link? He doesn't get a mention because he doesn't act like an arse- but arguably if he'd never got injured he'd still be a mainstay in our side today. We may still be paying Barton, but he's not our player any more. It's like when a manager goes on gardening leave, they're still under employment, but they're not part of the club any more. I'd say the missing links have been zamora/johnson whilst they were injured, granero/hoillet/the rest for the majority of the season whilst they under performed, and a decent manager up until november. Plus a load of other stuff
Perhaps after his continental sojourn, Barton has mellowed a bit? He would likely offer us some steel & grit in the Championship in a promotion run and after all he is still our player - if he hadn't seen the red mist after the Tevez sending off (and got 12 game ban) we probably wouldn't even be discussing this, i.e. he would still be part of our team. I've seen a few OM games and he seems to be doing a decent job there and mostly under control. He would of course just be a foot soldier, as he should have been in the first place - never captain material.
Joey Barton's not the missing link imo. An antagonist who covers a lot of ground and harries well - but loses possession too often with over ambitious inaccurate passes. Missing link for me atm is destiny. How we weren't 3 or 4 up well before half time yesterday defies reason. Villa's morale would've been shot way before they got the chance to equalise and then recover in the second half. Cesar (who'd had nothing to do before the equaliser) was less than convincing yesterday. No point talking about Green though as he obviously wasn't fit enough to even get on the bench. Looking back through our fortunes this term - and the results of our closest rivals, just ain't meant to happen this year is it?
