Cheers mate, so refreshing to see a gracious loser from a 'big' club...good luck in your quest for a top 4 place...The Champions League would be much better off with a club with a great European history in it.
Damn it. I was looking forward to a bit of Liverpool pundit squirming too. At least Shearer will be slightly more forth coming, and Dion Dublin always gives credit to a team which plays well, rather than decrying the other team's lesser performance. Is Lawrenson going to be present..? They usually have three on MOTD1.
Just got back. Great game and very nervy until the third went in. The first half was the best I can remember saints playing for a long, long time and really should have gone in 4 up. I thought Ramirez was anonymous today (to be fair the conditions weren't great) and definitely right to bring Davis on for him, Clyne and Shaw were immense. Said to my mate that JRod was due a bit of luck in front of goal for the effort he put in and he got it with the the rebound falling to him for his goal - well deserved and great performance from him as well. For the first time I am convinced we'll be fine,Villa result has helped with that as well! Time to look up the table rather than down..?
I too think we'll be fine now, but I would say that it might be wise to just hold off looking up quite yet. Go back a few weeks to the City; as fantastic a win as it was, 24 hours later Villa won themselves and therefore we actually didn't really pull clear of 18th. All that really happened was that we opened up a very nice gap on Reading and QPR. I would not be shocked if Wigan were to beat Newcastle at home tomorrow, especially after Newcastle's European outing on Thursday.
Did anyone notice that despite Lala being skipper, it was Lambert that was doing a lot of negotiating with Referee and organizing things in defence when they got a bit out of shape? Why did they water the pitch? We had a solid night of rain on it, although I appreciate that it affected a chance for Suarez!
So Ramirez didn't set up the goal?, I thought he had a good game. Swear some people think if he doesn't play out of this world he's ****.
Rickie confirmed in his interview that Mauricio is playing him differently. He said that Jay is a very good player who is happier playing as a striker. MP also alluded to this in his interview. Most of us felt that earlier in the season it wasn't working playing JRod out wide, so it will be interesting to see how this pans out in the long term. Rickie also added that win, lose or draw MP is okay as long as they do what he wants. He only gets frustrated if they don't perform.
He was involved in the goal, yes - don't think I said he wasn't but does that define someone as having a good game? Didn't say he played **** either, he just wasn't involved in much of the play and where I think he is different to the likes of JRod is that if he is not particularly involved he doesn't offer much in the way of defensive work rate. My point was he wasn't particularly effective so the manager was right to make the substitution based upon the first half performance. On your final point....I swear some people try to read things in to people's posts in order to start a fight.
It's not 'starting a fight' it's a difference of opinion and I didn't say you called him **** I said some people. I just feel some people have it in for him, which is sad given it's only his first season with us and you can see his talent.
Was at the game with four mates, we all called the sub at half time based upon what we saw as a quiet half - I'll watch MOTD tonight always prepared to put my hands up if got it wrong!
