Well lads we'll never know who finished where I'm afraid. Just hope come 6pm I'm selected fingers crossed http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-13468131
North east is ok but the middle and the south the people.... it is like they are all the dumbest idiots you used to see if you were ever unfortunate enough to have to got to the dole office.... even the ones gainfully employed. Not been to the west coast might be shangrila but I'm never finding out unless forced to go with work!
People who worry about Muslim fundamentalists should visit the southern states of the USA!! Fundamentalist Christians are just as crazy and therefore scary! When a country who seriously considers having Sarah palin as a presidential candidate who believes the film 1 million BC was a documentary, we should all be worried! And as for the west coast ..... one word SCIENTOLOGY!!!! ****
Chicago is an awesome city and I was there for 3 weeks in the World Cup 94, staying just outside the Arlington Race Course in Arlington Heights(about 17 miles out of the centre) but spent may days and nights in the city centre. Its fantastic and the people there are brilliant. I love the Yanks personally and we would all be walking around with jack boots on and be called Fritz or Herman now, if it were not for them. They sacrificed 10 of 1000's of lives to help us retain our freedom in 1941-45 (and 1914-18 as well) and people should remember that sometimes when they slag the Yanks off so easily.
Sorry Cest, but I don't have the same love of them as you. I had the misfortune to have to fight alongside the 1st US Marine Corps in the first gulf war. There was us Brits driving at 15 m.p.h to keep the sand clouds down so we wouldn't be spotted by the Iraqis. On arrival at our location, we then spent ages camming up the vehicles to keep ourselves hidden from the enemy, only for our position to be given away by some dumb ass american despatch rider on his motorbike, thinking he was Steve McQueen, riding at 50-60 m.p.h towards our position to deliver a message. 10 minutes later we were being mortared by a few Iraqis disguised as nomads, complete with hurd of camels! They were a nightmare to serve with because they all thought they were in a ****ing Hollywood movie, tearing around the desert with a 50ft cloud of sand behind them that could be seen for miles, whooping and shouting "USA!" with big stars and stripes flags hanging off the backs of their vehicles blowing in the wind. It's no wonder they lost so many soldiers in that war. How many did we lose? 9 soldiers, all killed by an American A10 Thunderbolt pilot. Am I glad that I didn't have to go back a second time with them during gulf war 2!
I wasn't slagging americans off only the crazy religious zealots, of which they have a good share. I've travelled the states extensively over the past 10 years and met some great people over there myself, but in certain parts its hard to miss this worrying trend of religion replacing common sense and scientific fact. I'll happily continue to slag those type of people off whether American English or whatever
Born and raised in Arlington Heights Cest. Walked to the track every day. Still to this day play the horses all over the country (internet). Worked downtown Chicago for years before moving to SF Bay Area. People in Chicago are the greatest, the West is fine also. The South and other parts of the middle can be scary...what they are thinking these days makes me wonder.
