Well he's hardly playing on form... Skrtel's not had any worse a season than Agger. He actually do alot of things very well, he's just not a flashy defender and gets on with things quietly. Set pieces he's better than Agger also. I'd be pretty annoyed if I were Martin, but going to the papers wasn't a smart move.
i'd say its not dislike par se.... i mean i have to say the amount of love ins for his "hardness" on old 606 was funny considering that he's really a powderpuff kind of guy. skertl is outstanding at nothing but good at a lot of things. thats his issue.... lets be frank here. john terry and vidic are pure donkeys on the ground but excel at dominating in the air. Skertl doesn't attack the ball at all. conversely ferdinand and carvalho were more ball playing and sweeping up type of players who the others rely on while they go attack the ball. skertl is not that either... not to that extent. Then there's agger and a few others who are ball playing CBs and he is not that either. Its a case of jack of all trades master of none for skertl. if you turn to him to take on a drogba you are in trouble. if you need a line organiser he won;t speak up and in the end is he really top 4? we've not been that since he arrived virtually so he's not tested to prove himself.
Can't argue with that, Agger's been poor too. Wouldn't be bothered about him going for the right price but itwould be crazy to sell Reina, Skrtel & Agger as well as lose Carragher in the same window. Best bet would be to sign a top CB (or two ) that can challenge for a first team spot.
I agree, Whilst Carra hasn't played really ba, he hasn't played the best either, not well enough to get a starting spot each game, so to me that suggests he's starting every game because of his retirement. IMO Skrtel won't be sold, we'll get one CB in and that'll be to replace Carra.
Coates will most likely go on loan, he might be sold but tbh I forgot about him We'll then have new CB, Agger, Skrtel and Kelly coming back from Injury. Can't Wisdom also play there? And again, if Coates is sold then we'll get someone to replace him but I feel that Skrtel will be here by the end of the summer transfer window.
Hence me mentioning him for CB I'm not sure about Skrtel staying going. He was close to going last year (reportedly) and he's been moaning (as already mentioned) so he may want to go in which case I'd sell him. If he wants to stay then keep him. Same applies to Pepe and Agger
I really should read all of the post I agree with you though, if he wants to go then he should be sold but if he's willing to give it all in his performances then I'm more than happy for him to stay I'd be a bit more gutted if Pepe left, Agger too. But like you say Begovic to replace him Or Mignolet?
I don't want to see Pepe go and part of me would be gutted but the other part of me wouldn't bregrudge him a move, especially if it was to his boyhood club Barcelona. He's been with us for a long time and owes us nothing having helped us win two cups in penalty shootouts. A keeper of his quality deserves to have won more
You're right, and whilst he deserves more he isn't as good as he once was, I mean Valdes isn't great but is Reina that much better than him? I'd be happy for him if he left and went to Barce though, as long as we got a quality keeper
Coates out (8m) - De Vrij in (10m), Shelvey out (5m) - Benteke in (15m) Reina out (15m) - Fernando Muslera in (14m) Downing out (7m?) - Ben Arfa in (15m) Carroll out (17m) - Kevin Gameiro in (20m) Out: 52m, In: 74m.
Who is Muslera? Those changes would certainly give us a better squad and more options. I don't want HBA though, especially at that price.
Carra 0m - Martins Indi 7m Skrts 8m - De Vrij 7m Coates 7m - Lovren 7m Spearing 2m - Capoue 7m Carroll 10m - Jovetic 20m Borini 8m - Lamela 17m Ins 65m Outs 35
Although I agree, we have plenty for CM (Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson and Allen fighting for two spots with Shelvey in the background too) and need more attacking players
Can't see us selling either and Cabaye is too old (turned 27 in January) for FSG. So is Ben Arfa for that matter (turned 26 last week)
