I always go into derby games with some trepidation tbh and although I tend to put on my game face and come out all guns blasting, behind the front lies a man who is fully aware that we just can’t handle this fixture as fans, players or as a club in its entirety. That said I didn’t see the 5-1 game happening so it’s always a difficult fixture to actually call right. However, we play our country cousins in just over 4 weeks time and for once I can’t really put on the face for it. They are at home; have the players that are in form and have the total momentum going into the fixture. We on the other hand have lost our way completely and are beset with splits in the camp again regarding the manager (I am 100% still with my man btw) and our players are completely out of form. My real fear is a thumping again and a total outpouring of abuse for Martin and he will walk, either immediately or at he end of the season and then we are back to square one again and a new manager hunt with new ideas and new players wanted - this will put us back 2 years AGAIN and maybe Ellis Short will also just say enough is enough and sell up to the first taker. There is so much riding on this one fixture AGAIN but this time I cannot see anything other than a heavy defeat. Hopefully I will be as wrong about this as I was about thinking we could get a result in that Halloween fixture but deep down, I fear the worst this time round. The very worst.
the derby is not important this season, the next game is and getting 3points and then trying to get enough points to stay up. we have been absolutely rubbish this season we have a rubbish squad on the whole and we have seen rubbish tactics used all season as for the derby who knows, they have a far superior team to us and if games were played on paper we would lose this one, lets just see at the time
Our home games are the priority, so the Norwich game is more important. Anyway, I don't think the mags are much better than us at the moment. Certainly not enough to make me cak me pants before the game. Yes, I'm worried we'll lose, but that is true of every derby game, which are lotteries at the best of times. I say FTM and roll on a chance to kick them in the nads. And MON won't bottle it if we get beat.
We actually have a better record at SJP then we do at the SOL, with them playing away in Europe just 3 days before the derby, that will also go in our favour. MON is also still unbeaten by them in this fixture remember. Taking all that into consideration I will go for a fortunate 1-1 draw.
Norwich, Man U and Chelsea to come first. As said above if we don't get 3 points from Norwich I think by the time the Mags game comes along we will be undergogs for sure and mighty close if not in the bottom 3. Season starts AGAIN (one last chance) v Norwich
Been such a ****e season I carnt even think about the derby the most important thing at the minute is Norwich
Anyone who says the crowd does not affect the playersâ performance should watch derby games. Confidence is 85% of a teams winning mentality, the managerâs job now is to build confidence into those players who are (seemingly) not up to the job and the shrinking few that are. Confidence can turn around very quickly, in games like this - it can depend on your first touch (and reaction to it). The longer it goes 0-0 the better our chances, because we only start playing later on in the game (usually when we are two nil down). I think this is not a bad fixture to get something out of, and I think we will get a draw. But fingers crossed on Sunday to build some kind of momentum (with the players and the crowd).
We won't thump you. It will probably be a 1-1 draw. Also, we will most likely be on a downer after being knocked out by Benfica.
Get away, that's a good draw for you boys. Benfica aren't the club they once were and struggled to get through against Bordeaux, a team which you looked head and shoulders above. Apart from Spurs and maybe (and its a big maybe atm) Chelsea, you have just a big as chance as anybody now. Sissoko, what a player!!
They are going to switch the derby game to a sunday to suit their books, i say stuff and make them play on a sat, thay cannot make SAFC play on a sunday as the club has not done anything wrong, do you remember1997 and the Boro?. If we wanted the game putting back due to an illness or similar at the club they would refuse, NONE of their players are ill whatever so why switch it, and where in the rules does it say they need an extra days rest?. I reckon they could not touch SAFC in court over this, and this has happened time and time again that our matches get put back. they should play europa league games on a wed at 6pm, this is just to suit t v.
I always choose the negative approach . We will see. You might win every game from now until the derby!
