Sorry to bring it back to this, but I suggest carrabuh should read the board rules as to why the thread was closed.
I could read them, I'd still say its nonsense to close a thread. As for Dave closing the thread because one or two said so, there seemed to be alot more than two names mentioned throughout, perhaps he should have gathered a consensus first before doing so as I don't recall being asked.
I have never, and will never ask for a thread to be closed down, however I can totally understand why Dave did it and have absolutely no problem at all with him doing so.
Superman called me a **** on that thread, it's still there for all to see. NO favorites or double standards on here is there?
Don't make yourself look silly ILD, it was removed in minutes, so was the following post which displayed a quote of it!
With respect, you chose to ignore some well made points he had made on his previous post, and merely highlighted the part that suited your own ends. Surely the essence of debate is to be influenced - if not won over, by somebody making valid points that allow people to view things from a different perspective? I look forward to the day when/if that scenario returns to the NCFC forum
Out of interest, Dave, and using Supers as the example of the moment, does this mean that Supers now has a black mark against his name and is in line for a temporary ban should he call anyone else a ****? Is that how this works?
The verbal warning is first, if it continues, a written warning, ie on the open forum, then if it persists, a 7 day ban! Supers is only on a verbal warning, it was only made public after two posters lying about it being still on display!
I've just looked, and it is still on display in a quote. Verbal warning for yourself for calling posters liars?
Right, I normally don't post, I'm just one of the weirdos who reads but doesn't participate. All of this crap that's been going on is pretty pathetic. For what it's worth I think it wasn't needed for Dave to lay down the law. If there was an issue the one person who stepped out of line should have had a PM warning them. Personally I like it when people clash on their opinions and have a fiery debate, I feel it makes things more interesting. It's the internet after all and people should realise there will be differences in opinion. Anyway, at least people got stuff off their chest which is what this should all be about. What everyone should remember is we all support the same club and that we all want the same thing, which is success for it. It doesn't mean the bloke I sit next to will be my friend or share the same opinion about football but we both at the end of the day want to see our club winning. It's the beauty of being human, not one of us is the same. So basically what I'm saying is I think people should be allowed to argue and be slighty offensive to one another on here (within reason) as it's more fun that way. People shouldnt take stuff to heart from a guy writing stuff on a forum. Anyway sorry for going on, but I thought I'd have my say. Here's to a successful last 9 games this season and hopefully a couple where we actually score a few goals and can push forward next year
my point, as stated earlier (I personally have no problem with being called a ****), is that if this policy is to be employed, we MUST be allowed to take moderators to task, and they MUST be transparent in justifying their decisions if questioned. Hopefully this would removed some of the percieved clique problem. EDIT: changed the punctuation to avoid a run-on sentence, I'm in essay mode
I've got this amazing image of superman flying down and just calling you a "****" haha! The sun front page **"SUPERMAN CALLED ME A ****"** Norwich fan left offended and confused and superhero vents his anger!
Personally, I never ask for a thread to be closed either, but the phrase 'it's the internet after all' makes me mad. What difference does/should that make? Should we then not respect other peoples' feelings? The fact is, some people are offended more easily than some, doesn't mean they should be picked on. Just saying. I use this board as a little light relief from work - very useful if you work at home (or anywhere) alone. It's fast losing it's appeal though, and that's a shame.
